Chording to WDWmagic.com the iOS app for My Disney Experience is getting a big update for better navigation and easier use. No date is given for this update but they do say it's coming soon. http://www.wdwmagic.com/other/mymag...disney-experience'-app-set-to-launch-soon.htm

I think this is definitely needed. One of the biggest flaws with the system was the app problems hopefully this will help with crashing and glitching. I guess we will just have to wait and see.

I wish the Android app update was coming that soon. According to the article it won't be out until the end of the year. I can never understand why it takes longer for Android apps considering that there are a lot more phones running Android OS then iOS.

Curious to see what all the iOS people think of the update.

Me too.

it's not just Disney it takes longer with a lot of companies to get android apps out sooner. I wonder if it has to do with that developing of the app and androids program is harder than apples or something.

You're right, it's not just Disney. My guess is it is a lot harder creating an app for Android than iOS. The reason being with iOS you only have one piece of hardware, running the same OS version, to write for, with Android OS there are literally hundreds of different phones/tablets out there with different tech specs AND running different Android OS versions. I'm sure that makes things a lot more challenging for Android programmers.

However, even with this complexity I think they could simultaneously release an update for iOS and Android at the same if they wanted to.

This is exactly right. A friend of my husband owns a company that wrote one of the biggest selling iOS games ever. He said that porting to Android took their teams several months to do because there are so many different devices and each one has its own idiosyncrasies.

Exactly....developers are writing the same code essentially for all apple devices. With android, there are numerous manufacturers with a nearly infinite number of chips/boards within all the different devices. That's why, for the most part, Mac programs are more stable than their Windows counterparts.

Never mind an update...I would like to see them release any app for android tablets. You can't get MDE at all on android tablets - only smartphones.

I sideloaded the app on my Kindle Fire HDX and my son has it on his Google Nexus 7. Runs great.

I think an update is definitely needed! (Esp for Android since that's what I have :) ) We were in WDW 2 weeks ago and the only frustrating part of the trip was trying to get the MDE app to work!! Hopefully an update fixes that!

:offtopic: Does MDE kill anyone else's battery? I'll have the app open for maybe 10 minutes and my battery life severely decreases.

I hope the update includes the ability to print as many paper fast passes as I want.

I just checked and there is an update for iOS. So if you have an Apple device, you can find out yourself.

I updated and interestingly there are still some glaring issues.

I cannot see some of my ADRs on my iPhone (some are listed some aren't just to be clear) even though they appear on the MDE website when I log in. That was the first thing I noticed when I tried it out.

I will have to say I love the new interface and how much easier it is to navigate quickly to see what I want/need such as wait times, attractions, entertainment etc.

Anyone else have this issue?

When I checked the app on my ipad this morning, my ADRs were all there but my room reservation wasn't showing up. I tried to re-link it with the confirmation number but got a message that that number was already associated with another account. I shut down the ipad for a couple of hours and, when I logged back in, everything was good again -- still had all my ADRs listed and now my room reservation shows up too.

So... maybe just try again later and see if it's working again? Good luck!

My android got an update this morning. Unfortunately, I don't have a trip coming up so I have no idea if anything updated. The app does seem to run better

On the Theme Parks board, they are recommending log out/log in or uninstall/install and then all reservations, Fp+, etc. are showing up.

My iPad app updated and my ADRs were still intact.

Hope it works for you!

Thanks I will give it a go. Like I said I like the new look and feel.

I got it too for my lg g2 and it does seem at least twice as fast but i also have no trip so can't comment on anything else.

When I open it on my iphone it takes forever to load. After it's loaded it seems much faster. I can't imagine standing in the parks, with the sketchy wifi, waiting on it to load. I'll still be taking screen shots so I won't have to wait an eternity for it to load.

When we were at WDW in December my daughter took a screenshot of our FP+ every morning before we headed to the parks. Then she made it her background on the home screen on her phone. That way all she had to do was press her home button and glance at our schedule. She never even slid her phone open. It was very helpful and we weren't wasting 5 minutes every time we wanted to look at our gameplan for the day.
