You would not miss the big show up on deck going to Palo, but I our choice was pirate night for Palo instead of MDAS day
We chose pirate night for Palo on the Jan17 MDAS cruise. To me the Pirate show was quite subdued and now deck show. No fireworks on Pirate night as they have them for MDAS night. Also the Pirate night menu is a little well so so from our opinion. We did a B2B the week before and then the MDAS for a total of 9 nights. Once we did Pirate night the week before we happy to go to Palo on the 2nd Leg MDAS cruise.
The MDAS menu was pretty good as it was a little change of pace. The RIb eye was good and my son got the Cod and it was good too.
Palo service was great as usual don't like the fixed menu, and note if you order sides they are huge like feed 2-3 people bowl of sides. I don't think the food suffered because of the menu but its just the idea the portions seem bigger when you order the ala carte and yet it keep you from trying new things the menu items are a big more $$. I love the Papperdell pasta and it was a bigger portion, then had the 8oz Filet. Either would have been a full meal. but before you could get a small dish of pasta and the steak.
We enjoyed it and Alvin was our server for both Brunch and Dinner. As we talked everybody hates change, it tough to see so many things over the years that were just great at Palo that are no longer available.
We missed:
Brunch missed:
Sticky Buns
Champaign Jello and berries
Pastries
Sea Food choices
Dinner missed:
Antipasta cart
Appetizers seemed a little more limited (I know there was a grilled shrimp app)
Grape and Goat Cheese Pizza (removed from menu years ago, but several times the wife has asked for it and they made it for her)
There was Mushroom type ravioli
Lobster Ravioli
This all said the food we had was excellent and the service was as superb as always.
We heard the menu change with the Wish is coming. According to our servers they don't know what's coming there in terms of menu changes. Its going to go "Steak House" but not sure you can make a menu like Palo with out of 4 steaks ( Filet, Porterhouse, Strip, Ribeye) So Palo is an Italian name so it should probably have some sort of Italian stuff, but anyone who knows is not talking.
