We are planning to drive from MD to FL and the route is approximately 14 hours. We drove it straight through last year but I think this time it would be better to stop about half way through. We can leave around 1pm on the Friday that we leave. I would like to drive about 8 or 9 hours straight and sleep overnight on the way. I want to drive as far as I can but don't want to get stuck finding a room that night and get overcharged or sleep in a bad area.

I want a cheap place to sleep for the night that hopefully includes a free breakfast. Is there an easy way to see the hotels on my route? Any places you have stayed that you would recommend? Is 8 or 9 hours a good amount of travel time for my distance? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Anyone ever stayed in Port Wentworth, GA? I am looking at the Sleep Inn there. It looks like it is on the route, cheap (enough) and has a hot breakfast included. Any downside?

We drive from Baltimore. Last year we stopped in savanah ga on way down and north Carolina on way back. This year were driving straight thru on way down and stopp on way back

Port Wentworth is a fine area. I've stayed at the Hampton Inn there, which you may not consider cheap. But when factoring in breakfast for 4 (included) , it certainly was reasonable in our book. :thumbsup2

BTW, if you are around Baltimore, this would be right about your 9 hour mark assuming no traffic issues and minimal breaks.

Thanks. We are about an hour beyond Baltimore. When we went last time we drove through the night and there was almost no traffic at all. Does anyone know how the traffic is during the day? Im thinking we would leave around 1pm on a Friday from MD and driving for 9 or 10 hours. Then leaving around 10 or 11 am Saturday and driving to WDW.

Yeah. I would plan to get out earlier on Sat. as traffic builds during the day. Also, if you can get out an hour earlier on Fri., it could make a huge difference in your overall time spent on the road ---> DC and Richmond are not your friend on a Friday afternoon! :goodvibes
