Is your doctor an MD or a DO??? And why did you choose one over the other??? Just curious.

We have both. My husband is an MD but sees an MD and a DO. A couple of my physicians are MDs, a couple DOs. There's really no difference in the training anymore.

DO = Doctor of Osteopathy

I think that there are probably more DO's in the south but I think that there will always be more MD's because there are fewer Osteopathy schools. We had a good friend who was a DO.

Correct me if I'm wrong, MDs can perform surgical procedures and DOs can not. I used to see a DO, when I was pregnant and for the first couple years of DD's life. She was a wonderful doctor.

Mine is a DO. I worked with the DO at our local hospital and really think his skills far outway our MD's skills. He is never above telling you he needs a second opinion and will send you for one if he feels you need it. I respect that in him very much.

DO's are trained as surgeons, psychiatrists, etc. All depends upon the specialty that they chose.

I see an MD, mainly because that's all I have available due to where I live and my insurance. I love the doctor I have, but as a general rule, I prefer DOs, provided that they're actually trained like a DO and not an MD.

I was seeing a DO for my knee injury when it first happened, until he had the audacity to tell me that I was faking an injury that seven years, two operations and countless hours of therapy have yet to heal.

Maybe I was wrong to lose all faith in osteopathy in general, but this quack certainly didn't do anything to make me feel comfortable with their abilities.
