Here's yet another quick review, of a dinner recently eat at The Wave.

Date we ate: Friday Feb 13th
Time we ate: ADR for 5:20pm, arrived and seated exactly on time

Service: Excellent. Prompt, professional and courteous. Drinks refilled quickly without asking. Plates cleared promptly. Follow up by waiter to make sure that meal & experience was to our satisfaction.

Atmosphere: Quiet, upscale but still relaxed.

Food: Excellent, some of the best value to be had at WDW.

DH & I did not waste time at this restaurant, but immediately both ordered the beef tenderloin. In both our cases, our entrees arrive promptly, and the steaks were *perfect*. Tender, but not too soft, deliciously meaty in flavor, with nicley seared exteriors.... this was great steak. It was served with roasted root vegetables and an interesting celery mash that was a very nice change from the ever-typical mashed potato. The haricot verts were also perfectly tender-crisp and DH and I fought over every last one.

DD's meal was a plain buttered linguine, which they served with fresh parmesan on the side. Not to my adult taste, but the linguine was perfectly cooked and served nicely hot, not rubbery and cold like so many children's entrees at Disney. DD was very pleased and ate an enormous quantity. Unfortunately, her entree came with the ubiquitous plain steamed broccoli and raw baby carrots (Disney evidently doesn't want to waste the time or money serving interesting vegetables to children, sigh), which my daughter refuses to eat, and which we refuse to make her eat.

Dessert was, by our request, two simple bowls of ice cream. These were polished off with enthusiasm by DD & DH.

Negatives: As far as the food goes, I couldn't find any. Seriously folks, this restaurant is a hidden gem at Disney. The only negative I could possibly think of? There were no windows and no view to speak of, which puts The Wave at a slight disadvantage when compared to the other Contemporary restaurants.

Conclusion: We look forward to eating here again, and I wouldn't hesitate to say it was the best meal we ate at Disney. Let's just hope it doesn't get discovered by the crowds!

Cannot wait to try this place in 2 weeks!!

Thanks for your review. We want to try The Wave in June. Your review style is great. I enjoyed all your reviews although disagreed with your thoughts on Tusker House..we enjoyed their lunch:) You must be a restaurant reviewer or writer, you have a nice, concise style!

I definitely think I am going to push for this place when we go in September. I don't care what everyone says...thanks for the great review!

Great reviews!

We had SUCH a fantastic lunch at the Wave a few weeks back :thumbsup2 It ended up being one of our favorite meals, the ingredients were as fresh and high-quality as signature restaurants, without paying the higher prices. Loved it! :goodvibes

Oh, next time you go you should try the little dessert samplers...they were wonderful, and small enough to actually try and tackle after so much eating. ;)

Thanks for sharing your reviews!

We really like the Wave. The food was very good and a nice atmosphere here. Love the Blue Room.

we loved the Wave in September 2008 (I know you just wanted ice creams for dessert, but lordy, those little dessert trios are triple heaven...and really fun if people order different trios & trade bites. Just the right size for a couple of tastes each. Which is about all you can eat of them because they're so rich. But oooh, yum.) We're going back in May 2009!

I realized after reading everyone's posts that we had made a tactical error, not ordering the dessert sampler..... to be honest, I completely forgot about it. (I can only plead being in a steak-induced stupor as my excuse). We will definitely have to give it a try on our next visit.

Unless, of course, The Wave becomes incredibly popular as people figure out what a fantastic deal it is, and ADRs go the way of Le Cellier!

And thank you for the many kind comments. It makes writing these reviews a pleasure, knowing that others might find them useful or enjoyable to read.

We've not eaten at The Wave, but it's where I've chosen for my birthday dinner in May. My picky DW has sort of struggled over the menu, but I hope I've rightfully convinced her that the chefs would be happy for her to tinker with sides, etc.

I'm pretty excited.
