MCO TSA Security - current wait times

Nope, none of this is an "always" or "never" thing. They'll waive the shoes and electronics occasionally, at all sorts of different airports and all sorts of different times. Sometimes, even within a single airport, one line will be told to keep their shoes on and another line won't.
Wow. You must get lucky a lot! Of all the flights I’ve taken in the last 5 to 7 years, I’ve never once seen TSA say don’t take your shoes off. that would be fantastic considering I travel with three kids and getting everyone’s shoes off and back on while clogging up the line area is a riot!

I wouldn't say it happens super often, but a handful of times. It sounds lucky but it ends up confusing the heck out of everyone so it doesn't end up saving any time.

I’ve seen some pictures lately of all the people at the security lines. Glad that the wait isn’t as bad as it looks.

As far as on the rare occasion you don’t have to take off your shoes, are they clearly telling people that? We will be there during spring break so maybe we won’t have to with the crowds. Not that I care but it would be nice to save that little bit of time.

The last time I flew out of MCO (when the dogs were being used), after I moved past the "booth" where they had the TSA agent who checks your ID and boarding pass, there were other TSA agents yelling (because they had to so people could hear) not to take shoes off. Of course some people weren't listening. For those of us who were, it was nice not to have to take them off. Lines looked insane but they actually moved.

Thanks! Glad to hear that it was communicated, and that those long lines aren’t quite as bad as they look.

Do you still have to take food out of your bags? We are flying MSP to MCO.

Per the TSA it's at the TSO's discretion. Probably depends on how good the person on the xray is. The better they are the less likely you'll have to take things out.

This one is so weird to me. MCO is the only airport we’ve ever had to do that at. Maybe because people go crazy with the oddly shaped Disney snacks? lol

I flew for the first time since 2019 in December. The TSA agent at LIT yelled at me for NOT taking off my shoes and the next agent yelled at me again for taking my laptop out of my bag. Then on the way back, I got yelled at again at MCO for taking off my shoes and NOT taking my laptop out of my bag.

Kind of hilarious. So, much of it is just theater.

A nice agent did come over and help me at MCO though. I appreciated that because even though I was organized, I had CPAP, tubes, a laptop, etc scatted between bins. It was very frustrating. I'll be checking more luggage next time.

On March 19 at about 630 am the security line for terminal b was ridiculous. I’ve never seen anything like it. The line to go through tsa was back to where you come from checking your bags. It then stretched the whole way down past the food court down to terminal A. At that point it split to two lines. One to the right of the food court, one to the left. I honestly thought it was going to take over an hour if not more to get through it.

I was surprised though. They have a good system that kept the line moving well. They did have the dogs out, but not everyone was directed to that line. I was. When we got to the other side of the dogs no one where I was was telling us any info, but I knew from here I could leave my shoes on. I did hear the tsa agent isn’t the line next to ours (they were splitting us up after the dogs) telling them to leave there shoes and ans just put bags on the conveyers.

I would say from the time we stopped at the beginning of the line till the time I got through tsa was 20-30 minutes. I can’t even describe just how long that line was. You’d have to have actually see it to believe it.
