We are thinking about renting a vehicle for one night. Flying into MCO early on 8/30 and cruising out of the port on 8/31. We are staying at Pop Century for the precruise (non-disney) hotel to have a character meal. To save money we can do a one day rental as a town car will charge about 180 total to get from the hotel to the port. We can save minimum 100 bucks by renting a car.

Is it an easy drive from the airport to Pop Century? What about from the hotel to Port Canaveral? We both have long work commutes so being on vacation we'd like to take it easy and relax, but I keep thinking about the savings. TIA.

Both are fairly easy drives. It's pretty much a straight shot from Disney to Port Canaveral. We drove it over a year ago and thought it to be very easy drive. Don't forget they do have toll roads, so make sure you set aside some $ for the tolls.

It's very east, and very well marked. Will you be returning the car at port, or parking it? Be sure the rental company has a shuttle to, and from, the ship, if you will be returning the car.

Very easy drive, both ways. Exit MCO and use "South" exit to the Greenway (417?). Much less traffic and easy to navigate.

Not sure where your CB is located but I would try to use Greenway on the return. It will either merge or have exit to 528, the Bee (beach) line to Port Canaveral.

If possible, some car rentals have EZ pass/Sun Pass for the tolls. Cost is usually $4-6/day plus actual toll charges that will be added to your final bill. For a 1-day rental, I think it will be worth it to bypass the toll booths and not hassle with lines or change.

Have a great trip and bon voyage!

In a rental car, they will want you to opt in to their toll-by-plate feature.

here is a guide showing charges for each car rental company. (can't say if completely up to date.)

If you opt out and use cash you run the risk of having a toll-by-plate sent in any way with a big fee so save all receipts even after you return!
