Hi all. I have heard horror stories about I-4... so this is what I'm wondering:

Is it better to drive (at noon on a Saturday in October... if that matters :confused3?)

1- 528 to I-4
2- 417 to 535
3- Other suggestions??

...to get from MCO to DTD?

I prefer the South route, 417 to 535. I have never, in all of my trips to WDW hit any traffic on that route either direction.

I agree with Kathy (no surprise) that 417-535 is the easiest route.

Take exit 6 off of 417 to get to 535 and follow that directly onto Disney property. After going under the Disney welcome sign take your first right and that will take you right to DTD.

North airport exit (436; Semoran) and left at first light (Frontage).
Little over a mile to next light (Conway); two lefts onto 528 (Beach Line) west.
Then onto I-4 west (southwest).
Get off I-4 onto 536 west (Epcot exit).
After going under the large welcoming arches, take first exit (Buena Vista) and go right for Downtown Disney.

When you get off 417 at exit 6 you will be on 536 not 535, stay on 536 into WDW and follow signs for DTD.

You could also get off exit 6 onto 536 then take a right onto 535 follow that to Hotel Blvd which is a left just after going under I-4 (there is a Disney World sign) that will lead you to DTD.

I thing the first option is easier.
