Barb, I know you have mentioned before that you use Priceline for your hotel resvs, and that you frequently stay at the Airport Marriott. What are the keys to getting the MArriott MCO on Priceline?

You must bid on a 3* MCO hotel in Priceline for the POSSIBILITY of receiving the Marriott. There is no way to select the Marriott, though. I have bid 2 different times through Priceline for a 3* MCO hotel and once I received the Renaissance and the other time the Holiday Inn Select. Both were very nice. The Hyatt at the airport sometimes comes up under 3* MCO too, but I think that's not as frequent and when I see someone listing it, I always look at what day of the week it is and it seldom seems to be the night before a Disney cruise :(

I too highly recommend Bidding for Travel if you are thinking of a Priceline bid. They keep a list of hotels that have come up for winning bidders by area and it gives you an idea of a reasonable bid to make. Or if you want to get one of the Moderators on Bidding for Travel to give you a bidding strategy, then read the FAQ first and there is a form to use to post. The FAQ also explains how to get free re-bids without waiting 72 hours.

I echo what kmc33 has said. There's no guarantee when using priceline that you get a specific hotel. I've used priceline 3 times for MCO and I've gotten Holiday Inn Select 2x and the Marriott once. Both were very nice hotels. Both had efficient airport shuttles, clean rooms. I think you would probably be happy with any priceline 3* hotel in that area. I did totally fail with priceline 3 weeks ago when there was a convention of over 15000 people in town and I couldn't get anything via priceline or hotwire for MCO. I ended up going to the Hilton Garden Inn with a AAA rate...which still was way more than I wanted to pay....it was nice, clean, but $80 was way more than priceline!

The only trend that I've noticed is that I've gotten the Renaissance twice when I've booked really close to my cruise time, and I've gotten the Holiday Inn Select when I've made higher bids. Other than that, it's really up in the air. The Marriott is the one I get the vast majority of times, but it's still a shot in the dark. Just be sure to bid that highest star level or you could end up with the slum LaQuinta on Daetwyler Drive.
