I was looking into reserving a night at the MCO Hyatt the night before our cruise as we will get in late from CA the night before, so it seems easiest. When I went to the site to try o see rates, I put in 2 adults and 2 kids and it c,DS back every time saying there are too many occupants, even when I selected suite. What are you supposed to do for a family of 4? Can you only reserve 2 connecting rooms? Thanks! This is for Feb.

That is really weird, I just reserved a room last week for 4 people, my husband and I and our two kids. I got a regular room with 2 double beds.

I tried again and it did came out right this time. What is a good rate? Is it worth doing the breakfast deal?

Kitty, the breakfast is nice, but a bit over priced. You can either get the buffet or have a credit applied toward an in-room breakfast. If your little ones are picky, I might do the buffet as the menu items are a little different.

There is a Starbuck's right outside the hotel and we usually just grab a pastry or oatmeal for breakfast since we they serve lunch right after you board. There is also a large food court with breakfast items in the middle of the airport (short walk from the hotel).

You may want to check into Hyatt Stay Certificates. For one price it includes your room rate and all taxes. They must be ordered online and will arrive at your via FexEx but it is a good way to get a reasonable rate.

Here is a link to a thread that has some good info in it for getting a good price at the Hyatt MCO and about the stay certificates.

Thanks, looked through that thread a bit. Would there be any reason NOT to use a certificate? Seems like the best deal. And so i guess you can make a reservation before you've actually received the certificate?

It make me so nervous to leave the baggage for them to get but I suppose they do it early enough that you wouldn't necessarily check out before the luggage gets picked up.

Sounds like the Disney transfer from the Hyatt is the easiest; I guess it's a bit ore expensive than other transportation options.

I too worry about the luggage being left behind but 4x we've done this, it's always there on the ship. :thumbsup2

There are cheaper ways but involve more schlepping of your luggage, sometimes on & off rental car office shuttles. No thanks, I like the convenience of DCL transfers. :cloud9:
The only "drawback" of using a stay certificate is that it's non-refundable. If for some reason you had to cancel, you can't get your $ back. IIRC, they now make them non-expiring which wasn't always the case. At least you could save it for another time. I like that the cert covers all taxes too. You simply hand over the cert at check in and all you pay for at check out is anything you've charged to your room account.
Of course if you forget your certificate at home, or lose it along the way, that could be viewed as a drawback too but I think they're worth the effort. :thumbsup2

We use the Certificate of Stay too. No problem. My DH loves catching the ship this way if we are not at the parks the night before.

As for the breakfast, we got a good deal from AAA last year that included breakfast. We found it was too much food since lunch is available on the ship shortly after you get on. This year we stopped at Starbucks for drinks, I got a banana, and the others got pastries. This was better for us. Also the food court has a McD. that has brekfast options. If you have young children maybe throw a couple of those small boxes of cereal in your bag. My kids were happy eating out of the box and having the milk by itself.

Thanks! So what is the process for making the reservation when planning to use the certificate? Can it be done online? I'm assuming I can make the reservation and then get the certificate, but I have to ascertain that there are available reservations for certificates? Can I get the reservation before I have the certificate purchased?

I've always called and told them I'm not order the cert until I know for sure there's availability. They usually book it say to call them back with the cert #.

Yes, call the hotel to see if they have room available using a certificate. Get the room booked, then order the certificate.

I haven't had to call back in with the certificate number yet.
