Does the MCO airport in Orlando have TSA full body scanners to use at the airport security area ?

From Fox News website:
The Transportation Security Administration is looking to increase the number of full-body scanners at U.S. airports over the next few years
AND
Experts say full-body scanners are much more effective than the metal detectors commonly in use at airports, which have no capacity to detect explosives. And they say a lot of the privacy issues have been solved.

I would love for MCO to have them for my peace-of-mind.

Does anyone know when MCO will get a Full Body Scanner or are they at MCO already ?

The list of airports I found on the web with TSA full body scanners is:
ABQ(Albuquerque)
ATL (Atlanta)

BWI (Baltimore)

CLE (Cleveland)

DCA (Washington DC)

DEN (Denver)

DFW (Dallas-Ft. Worth)

DTW (Detroit)

IAH (Houston)

IND (Indianapolis)

JAX (Jacksonville)

JFK (New York City)

LAS (Las Vegas)

LAX (Los Angeles)

MIA (Miami)

PHX (Phoenix)

RDU (Lafayette)

ROC (Little Rock)

RIC (Richmond, Va)

SFO (San Francisco)

SLC (Salt Lake City)

TPA (Tampa)
TUL (Tulsa)

Privacy issues ?

I would do a full body scanner anytime asked. I have nothing to hide.

EL-AL, an Israel airline has never had a terrorist attack because their secuirty for flying is top notch. If you do not comply with the security check -then you can not fly on EL-AL.

If USA airlines had the same kind of secuirty which EL-AL does - we would not have any terrorists on our planes.

Not the answer to your question, but Chicago O'Hare is adding them over the next two weeks.

I called MCO...

Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA)
Orlando International Airport
One Airport Blvd
Orlando, Florida 32827-4399
(407) 825-2001

MCO said they have TSA Full Body Scannners on order.
So maybe they will be in place by December 2010 !

MCO also said anyone who goes through the security gate, will also have to go through the TSA Full Body Scanner :thumbsup2

:goodvibes Yeah for MCO security :goodvibes

I hope the JetBlue security area uses the TSA Full Body Scanners.

Now I hope non-international airports get the TSA Full Body Scanners too, such as SWF and LGA.

At this point, you will have the option of a manual, intensive search (pat down, bags, etc.). I'm all for the scanners, I don't really care all that much.

And as of my last trip, Israel does not have strip search machines.

Ugh. It appears that I'm gonna getting patted down every time I go to WDW now. I absolutely detest those machines, and trust absolutely nothing the TSA has said about their solving the privacy issues.

It seems ridiculous to me that people would so willingly bend over backwards for this reactionary measure that offers little added security benefit.

At this point in time - I would do any type of search and ask for all to do the same - no singling out one person over another.

I do not want a bomb or terrorist on the plane we fly.
The world is changing and so are the politics of some countries.
Read the newspaper.

I also do not want the airline pilots to have had any drugs or alcohol in their systems 48 hours prior to my flight.

Let me add no crying babies through the whole flight too.

The WTMD and Puffers already at the vast majority of commercial airports in the world already detect these things just fine. If you have explosives strapped to your bodies, the puffer will find them. If you have a weapon strapped to your body, the WTMD will find them.

The strip search machines cannot search inside the human body, which is one of the two gaping loopholes in aviation security (the other one is unscreened cargo).

In short, these machines do nothing other than make people like yourself feel safe. That is it. They do not provide any additional security. The only additional function they serve is to turn the felons at the TSA into the worlds largest producers of child pornography.

FOR THE LAST TIME, THEY DO NOT STRIP SEARCH YOU! There are NO CLOTHES removed, the image is grainy at best and it does help detect items on a person's body that cannot be detected through the current machines in place (but could be via a pat down). The machine just replaces the physical contact with an image.

Wow! is all I can say!! A bit over the top don't ya think?

hows the tin foil hat coming along? :rotfl:

They have them at the airport in Vegas, and I noticed that the booth where the TSA people watch from had several notices prohibiting them from bringing cellphones with cameras, recording devices, etc, into the booth with them.

The scanner was only used for people who were randomly selected for "additional screening" and even if you were selected there was a sign saying you could opt out of the scanner and be manually searched instead.

There is an easy fix. Just have two planes one that screens passengers and one that doesn't. I will fly on the plane that screens the passengers.

now i understand the whole safety issue.. but to me its one more thing airlines are hassling us with.. this is why i dont want to fly anymore... too much haslle and its getting to be cheaper to drive down instead of flyinig

A- It's not a strip search in the literal sense, but it is a virtual on.

B- I'll opt for the pat down.

Do a quick google search on TSO's getting caught breaking the law. Specifically in regards to theft from passenger luggage, and abuse of their (extremely limited) authority. I don't trust the TSA one bit. They operated with no oversight, and in some aspects, outside of the law.

Cute. I defended my point of view using reason. You mock me. Take that tin foil hat and do something with it

Fine, I was referring to the people who think the aliens are watching and listening to their brain waves so they wear tin foil hats, it means people who are very paranoid and to me calling TSA agents child pornographers for doing their job is overly paranoid! I shouldn't have made a wise crack but you shouldn't call innocent workers child pornographers.

What are they going to do with grainy black and white basically outlines? You really think there is a market for that when there are real photos out there?
You see a whole lot more at any Disney swimming pool and they could take much higher quality photos there also!

Until we start profiling and quit wasting time on a lot of the security measures I have very little faith in the system, BUT it is better than nothing and if this latest method helps at all I'm all for it. I don't have anything that hasn't been seen before! And if those poor agents want to look at it go for it. And based on the sights I have seen at airports lately it is a job I wouldn't want.:rotfl2:
