Our return to Orlando is all booked for April:banana: except...
This will be the first time we require a car rental...Have previously used DME and stayed on site. Plan to visit much more this trip.

I'm sure it's been asked a thousand times but here goes...
Where do I get the best Canadian deal on a rental from MCO?
Will need one for 10 days...When I check the main rental sites directly it seems to come up well over $500/$600. Does that seem right? I was really hoping it wasn't going to cost that much!!

Looking for good experiences and bad ones as well.

Agree that rates are exceptionally high this year. You may want to try Budget, which is what we are doing for our trip next month. There is a code available through Travelocity - doesn`t require any special memberships - which takes rates down by a large amount.

We are renting a minivan for 6 nights and the cost with no code was coming up as $613.00. With the code the base rate is $225.00. We couldn`t believe it, but if you do a search on the code on these boards you`ll see that tons of people have used it successfully with no problems. The code is X474200

Hope it works for you and that you have a great trip!

Davey-D-99 ... check out expedia.ca Come what you find there to other info you find!

I have gotten good deals directly from National. We paid $92 for 7 days 2 weeks ago taxes and fees included.

You will probably pay more for April but you can get good deals. A good source for deals is the transportation board. There is usually a thread for each months car rental prices. Also check Mousesavers they list all the current coupons. Sometimes the best deals are a couple weeks out. I usually make a a reservation for the best price and cancel and rebook as I find better deals.

I like nationals emerald aisle Mousesavers has a link to a free membership. When you are a member and rent a mid size you can pick any car from the Emerald aisle. We have always been able to get a SUV or minivan. I usually use the best coupon code and the contract ID for the continental frequent flier, it always seems to have the best price.

Good luck, I am sure you can get a good rate.

I have had great luck with Alamo. I visit the Costco travel site (US, but they never ask. I am a Costco member up here) and get the coupon and discount codes there. They have consistantly been the lowest priced option.

Edited to add that the Transportation board on the DIS usually has great codes listed.

February has good car rental rates. Last year we rented for 11 days for under $120 taxes and fees in for a 7 seater Town and Country off of the Emerald aisle (mid size rental)

This year we had GMC Terrain not as nice but good enough. Usually there is a coupon for around $35 I use contract ID 5007160 and usually find the cheapest rate about 1-2 weeks prior to our departure. I probably make 5-10 reservations while planning until I get the best deal.

I really recommend subscribing to your months rental car thread people are always posting their best deals.

Wow is right! Was that for a standard car or a compact one?

Going to check out all the tips...Thanks.

I didn't know about Costco...I'm a member here too so I might give that a try as well as Expedia and the travel boards. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It was for a mid-sized, since I am a member I was able to pick from the emerald aisle and we got a GMC Terrain, other cars they had the time were Camry, Altima, a Jeep Compass, and Chevy Malibu.

One other thing to note is that sometimes there are last minute deals available 2-3 weeks prior to your pick up week. We always rent a vehicle. I will book a vehice as soon as our trip is lined up and check back periodically to see if the rates are lower. I usually get the best rate when doing a final check about 2 weeks out. Last trip we had a Dodge Charger (needed trunk space) for 10 days in March for $330 including the airport fees and taxes. Just keep checking!

Just a quick update in case you are still looking - I just booked an intermediate SUV with Budget using code D454300 (from the Budget web site - appears to be good through to June 2012) for $275 including all taxes and fees for 9 days at the end of March.

We have had great luck with National at MCO. If you sign up for Emerald Club (free) then you rent a mid-size and pick any car in the Emerald Row. Best of all you don't have to go to the rental counter, just pick up your luggage and go to the parking garage. Westjet website has a partner deal with National with code and coupon. (I always print the coupons & take with me). WDW annual passholders get a discount as well. :smickey:

Thanks to cpbjgc I just used this code and saved myself another $120 on my rental in 2 weeks! I had a minivan for $580 and now have an elite suv for $430 for 13 days! :thumbsup2
