MCO Airport Hotel & Other ?'s

We have always flown into MCO the day of our cruise, however I am nervous about bad weather in Feb so we are flying in the night before. The Hyatt at the airport is full, I am looking for suggestions for other close hotels w/comp shuttle. I have seen mention of hotwire on this board and amerisuites, however I am a bit cautious that with my luck the hotel I choose on hotwire won't be the amerisuites and I will be stuck somewhere else. Also, we are using happy limo to get to the port on Sat, what time can we get on the ship, I think it may be 10am but not sure. Thanks for all your help!

There are several nice hotels that have shuttles at MCO, I've heard good things about the Embassy Suites, they also include a free breakfast. As to getting on the ship, DCL usually opens the terminal at 10:30 (though sometimes earlier) for people to check-in. On our 11/6 cruise, they opened up the ship to boarding at 11:45.

I am flying in the night before my cruise and staying at the Marriott Orlando Airport. I got it for a really reasonable price on Priceline - less than half of what I would have paid on the Marriott site. When I placed my bid, I only bid for 3* hotels, that way I knew that it would be something that I would be happy with. It took me a few tries but I think that it is worth it.

A shuttle is great and most have one, but a taxi is convienient and inexpensive too - the hotels are just so close to the airport.

As far as getting to the port, 10 am is pretty early - you will probably have to wait. I usually get there around 11 and still usually have to wait.

I'm staying at the Hampton Inn about 1 mile from MCO. I could not get a priceline hotel for under $50, so I chose the Hampton because I stay there for business and they are consistently good.

We will be at the port when it opens and first in line. Why, because we want to!

I just reserved the Crown Plaza at MCO for $50 through Priceline (searching only 3 stars), then called the hotel to see what kind of room we got. It is a non-smoking king bed room, and they noted my request for a rollaway for our son.

I just booked two rooms at the Radisson Inn and Suites for about $75 each (AAA rate), which includes a full breakfast. I would have tried to book on Priceline and get a lower rate, but you can never guarantee that the hotel has a shuttle (although most do) or that you can get a room to sleep four, which we absolutely need. It's likely we could have been accomodated, but I didn't want a non-refundable reservation only to find out that the room wasn't going to work.

We''ll be going with one of the car services and I plan to order a 10:00 a.m. pickup, which should get us to the port around 11:00 a.m. I think the Disney buses start pulling in at around 11:00 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.

I love priceline...we've gotten the Marriott as low as $23 dollars (usually $28 to $33). BE SURE to bid the highest star level. The next one down is usually okay too, but there is one LaQuinta (not the LaQuinta Suites, the other one) that is a SLUM and you can get it as that second star level. The hotels all have free airport shuttles at that level.

marycaym, I am also "afraid" of the uncertainty that comes with hotwire and priceline.
I found a great deal on our MCO hotel thru www.hotelwiz.com for the Best Western Airport Inn and Suites, for a family of 4 it was around $55.
They have a free shuttle to the airport.
Its a clean nice hotel, (and I am a VERY picky hotel person).
We are planning on staying there again in Sept

We have never used Priceline or Hotwire, but we have stayed at both the MCO Marriott and the MCO Hilton Garden Inn. Both have a shuttle and are very comfortable and clean.

The HGI is a bit closer to some of the restaurants.

That LaQuinta is very close to the airport, so if you book using the distance from airport feature that some of the sites have, beware!!! I think you are talking about the one on McCoy Road...

Actually I think the bad one is on Daetwyler Drive. There is one near the other hotels at the North Exit, and that is the good one. Then there is one farther away, near a McDonalds, and that is the SLUM.
We stayed there a couple of times before we learned better. Some highlights: wondering why there was no continental breakfast as advertised, then realizing it was because the workers were carrying the food to their cars; waiting literally 20 minutes for a desk clerk (the man in front of us had been there 10 minutes longer than us), and then having the clerk tell us, "Oh, sorry, I was busy feeding my kids.").

We did the same in November....great location and a nice buffet breakfast for under $10.
