Hi all, looking forward to our trip the week after Thanksgiving and saw that there is an MCE Conference at the same time as our trip and that they have substantial discounts on park hopper tickets. I went to their website and it looks like we can just purchase tickets and print them from home, however does anyone know if we have to show proof of attending the conference when we redeem the paper ticket?

Also, I have a rare systemic disease that has really set me back this year. Not sure I'm ready to go the ECV route but don't want to be so stubborn that I make the rest of the family miserable. Can you rent them last minute from an outside agency or at the park? Also, if I have a Dr's note explaining that it is difficult for me to be on my feet for long periods of time, can I take that to city hall to receive a pass for shorter wait times? Don't think it will be a problem given the time of year, but my disease is so unpredictable and is more severe some times than others that I just want to be prepared.

Thanks all for your help! It's been over 2 years since our last trip to DL and can't wait, let the countdown begin!

Yes, you can rent an ECV at the last minute. Several companies are happy to deliver them to your hotel. Go to the DisABILITIES forum here on the DIS and read the Sticky Notes, especially those pertaining to Disneyland. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=595713 Especially read post #14.

A doctor's note won't do any good -- Disney employees really won't even look at it. Disney's official answer to people who have difficulty waiting in line is just to rent a wheelchair or an ECV. A Guest Assistance Card, called a GAC, won't guarantee a shorter wait time. Often the handicapped lines are longer than the regular lines, but for people with stamina issues, an ECV is definitely worth it. A wheelchair will get you off your feet, but someone will also have to push it, and that's more exhausting than most people realize.

Sometimes it's hard to decide when it's time to rent an ECV, but if you're miserable on your feet all day and you're slowing down your family or wearing them out from pushing a wheelchair, then it's time.

You won't need the doctor's note. You can go to City Hall and simply explain. They will recommend a wheelchair or ECV for stamina issues. Wait times will not be shorter, but you will be able to be off your feet.

A related question...does anyone know how strict Disney is about booking rooms at conference rates but not attending the conference? I know the organizers of Gay Days are okay with it if you support them, but this is a bit different. Thanks!

Besides the fact that it is against the rules, Disney is VERY strict about this. They will send a list of names of people who booked rooms to the conference organizer to verify that individuals who booked rooms are actually attending the conference. I had a friend who was a conference planner and she said Disney had a way of "taking care" of those not on the list. Totally different from Gay Days. So I wouldn't try it.

When we attended a conference, Disney did ask for proof that we were part of the conference. I have seen others who had bought tix, but were not part of conferences, that were pulled aside. Don't know what happened to them, but don't think I would take the chance of having my tix confiscated.

Thanks for the heads up!
