I can't believe what happened to my son today at a McDonald's play land. My son will be 4 in April.

Today my mother had him for the day and they went to McDonald's for lunch. There were three little girls in the play area who appeared to be about the same age as my son but were unchaperoned. (There was a man with another little girl, but she was not part of THIS group) These 3 little girls kept coming over to my DS and asking him to play. DG told him he could play after he ate. She said these 3 little girls were cute and really seemed to want him to play. He loves playing with other kids so he couldn't wait to get up there to play. The girls took off up the tube and into the crawl spaces and my dS followed them. My mom said not 2 minutes later she could hear my DS screaming for someone to get off of him. She looked up into one of the port holes to see the 2 girls sitting on him with his neck bent backwards and one of the girls fist's shoved into his throat while another one held his neck. My mother screamed at them to let him go and for him to get down where she was. it was noisy in there and it took a second for them to hear her, but they let him go. As soon as he headed out of the tube one of the girls followed him and tried to grab him again. My mother yelled at her to leave him alone. She said his neck was red and had marks all over it from where they were holding him and choking him!! He was pretty darn upset and my mother was livid. She went into the restaurant and looked around for the parents of these 3 bratty girls and found no other people around. She demanded to speak to a manager (hell hath no fury like an irate grandma!). She told him what happened and showed him the marks on DS's neck and then the parents of the children showed up. not as customers but as employees!!! They were letting their children run around the playland while they worked!!!!

Needless to say none of us are happy. I emailed the McD's corp and let them know that I would like the franchise person to whom I would need to speak so that I can complain about this. There is no reason for a person working the job to have their children running around tormenting other children. My DS told his grandma that he didn't want to go back to McD's because they were mean!! I don't blame him!!

Sorry but I had to vent.

Go ahead and vent. That is almost unbelievable. Why do parents let their kids run around at their job, being inappropriate?

I hope your son is all right, he is a real cutie!

Tara, dear, you just vent away! I am mad just reading this!! What did the manager say? Did the parents and the girls apologize? They really could have hurt him!

Give him a hug from me and tell him that he did great by yelling and letting others know that he was being hurt. Poor little guy - I don't blame him for wanting to not go there again. :(

Please take some nice deep, cleansing breaths - I don't want to have to go boil water and deliver "Mantilda" today....;)

I can't beleive this!!! I know ours has signs posted that children are to be supervised while in the play area. It was very unresponsible for the manager to allow employee children to play unsupervised. There is no way the manager could not have known this either! Managers usually know the employee children. I am so sorry this happened to your son.

Oh my! You have every right to be upset. I hope that manager bent over backwards for you and yelled at the employees right there. I would definitely follow up on this and make sure something happens. If it doesn't, write your local paper and call the news stations. Other parents need to know what's going on.

I feel for your son. What an ordeal. I would be furious too! I definately think reporting it to the corporate headquarters is a good move. After all, the girls should not have been there unsupervised -- especially since the parent was working for the McDonald's.

It's been my experience that McDonald's play areas get out of control. We went last week (my 6 daycare kids) and 1 got spit in the face by another child, 1 got kicked by that same child and 1 got hit in the face with the Lego balls the kids got in the Happy Meals and were throwing up inside of the slide. I had enough at that point and found a manager to come and control the kids -- since the parents felt they didn't need to. The Mom of the 3 boys got in my face and told me her children were sitting quietly at the table for the last 10 minutes ( yeah, right) and I better be careful who I accuse.

While the kids love it, I hate when parents think it's a free for all and don't correct their children.

You have EVERY RIGHT to be upset at that!!! I would keep calling and talking to the management, and make sure that they know how unacceptable this is!!!

I would have called the cops- assalt on my child even if by another child- will be dealt with by the proper authorities...and then after they are done dealing with the assalt, they will deal with the employee/parents who left there children unsupervised for who knows how long....

Also- in every McDonalds I've ever been in, they have the contact info for the franchise owner on the same wall they have all the "super mcdonalds awards"....

Good luck but I would have called the cops....and you can bet your ****, they would have been taking pictures of it!!!

And Ds wonders why we always go through the drive thru...

What horrible little children. I hope your son is ok and something happens to the parents, that is just disgusting.

I agree with Brandi. I would definately make sure there is a report and pictures on file with the police department. Then you should talk to a lawyer.

  That is so uncalled for!!!! OMG....I would have been livid too. All of the employees should be reprimanded if not fired for this. You did the right thing by contacting the Corp. Headquarters. You may also want to visit a doctors office to have the marks on record...just in case the manager is slimy and denies the incident.
Give J a hug for me. Hope he's okay now.

OMG, your poor son. You have every right to be angry. I hope he's ok. My first instinct when I read you post was to call the police. I think there is something wrong with these girls. Without knowing much more than what you posted I'd classify them as preditors. Normal child do not lure other children into play and then assault them. It's not too late to file charges for the sake of your son, other innocent children and also these girls.

That's why the police report and photos taken by the officer are so important here. They can hardly deny official photos taken of the incident.

OMG...........that is just awful!! I think I would have gone to the police as well. I can't believe that those employees would leave their kids like that (I mean, I believe you, ....just that they were awfully nervy to let their kids run wild, while they worked) to terrorize other kids!! My kids were always big for their age, and they hit the height limit very early, and couldn't understand why they weren't allowed, when they could see their friends playing in the tubes, etc. I just had to explain that they were bigger (but maybe not older) than the other kids, and that someone could get hurt if too big kids were there. Sounds like maybe the girls that attacked your DS, maybe were a little older, but maybe not big enough to be excluded from playing there. If not, it sounds like their parents are in for a real fun time when they get older, if they are terrorizing kids at 4 or 5.

OMGOSH I would be livid too!!

Your son did the right thing by yelling! he should be rewarded for that IMHO. he didnt let them bully him so that is good.

As for the employees I too would make sure they were reprimanded at the very least! I can understand if something happens to your sitter and you have to be at work sometimes it seems there are just no options. But to not be checking on them or having an idea of whats going on is ridiculous!

I refuse to go to those any more ( except for the one at our Church) because and this is REALLY REALLY GROSS so if youre eating or whatever do not read further!!!

still with me? Im telling you its gross!

ok you asked for it....

when Cam was little he went to one of those playlands at McDonalds. He played up there for a long time and when he came down he was covered in something gross.... some kid had pooped up there! Cam crawled through and so had some other kids so it was EVERYWHERE. OMGOSH I wanted to die!!! It stunk SO BADLY! I took all his outer clothes off and threw them in the trash right there washed him as best I could and threw my jacket over him as I ran him to the car. I got him home and scrubbed him so hard with anitbacterial soap. ***shudder*** I still get sick when I think about that!
BLECH!

How horrible for your son to have to go through this! I want to chime in with the others, and hope that you will follow through on this. Employee's children DO NOT belong in the work place.

I'm a waitress and we have two co-workers who allow their daughters (one is 10, the other is 12 I think) to come to the restaurant after they get out of school. I hate it. I do not feel they belong there. The owner wrote, on the communication board, about not having children there and they abided by that for awhile but it's back to same old, same old now. There are cameras in the kitchen and main dining room, so I know the owner knows the kids are there. It annoys me when they are behind the counter, they have no reason to be back there and I'm constantly getting after them to go sit down. They are just always "in the way", it's ridiculous. I wish the health department would make a new rule, that no kids of employees are allowed at work!!!

 Tara, What a terrible thing for the little guy to have to go thru! I'm so glad he did the right thing and called his g'ma right away. You were so right to call the Corp ofc about the incident. I'm so glad J isn't physically hurt too bad! to you , Jar and G'ma!

Tara, keep venting away! I hope you son is ok now. I would have talked to that parent and asked her "Are you going to watch your kid or not?" I am so mad at what had happened to your son! It could have been my son. I am sooo mad that I hope that someone will do something to her and prevent it from happening again.

You can't bring your kids to work, what is she thinking of. And no wonder those kids get kidnapped or grow up wild cause of lack of supervision. One of these days, this employee will find herself without her daughters cause someone have kidnapped them. She keeps doing what she's doing...she will be sorry at the end.

This makes me so mad and so sad....I really hope you follow through with the franchise and complain...take care and I hope your little guy is doing ok! HC

Wow!! Thanks for all the responses! The manager apparently just stood there and looked dumbfounded. My mom said one of the girls tried to deny it but my mom stopped her and pointed out to her mother that she in fact was one of the aggressors. I know my son is not perfect and that he has his moments but to sit on another child and then hit him, it is just amazing to me.

I hadn't even thought of calling the police. But that would have been a good idea! when I got home tonight I picked him up into my lap and was snuggling with him, he doesn't do that very often...he usually has to be sick to do that!! But he showed me how the girl had her fist in his throat and then he showed me how she hit him on the head, and he said, "She tried to break my head mommy." I wanted to cry he looked so pitiful.

I'm going to check my email tomorrow and if I don't get a response I'm going to go in there and get the information. I just am afraid that my moodiness right now might prove dangerous if I go in there and any one asks why I'm copying down their information.

And you're right when you say the parents are in for a ride with these kids at this age and this aggressive they will probably get worse!

I'll keep everyone posted as to my contact with the franchise owner, because they most certainly here from me about this!!!

Thanks,
tara
