I understand that people want to be away from the everyday. I do know that Disney has always had sponsors for their resturants as well as attractions. I have been going to Disneyland since the 70's and everything was always "brought to you by..." . Carnation, Stouffer's I also believe even places like Texaco have sponsored Disney. McDonald's has been a part of Disney for a long time and so have many other places (McD's is just more of a part than others)I am a little sad to see McD there, not because I care if your kids eat there or not, but because I think of Disney as being "out of the world." I like being on WDW property the whole time, away from the problems and stresses for a few short days. Passing a McDonald in my "real life" happens every day, so I was a little bummed to see it right in the middle of a wonderful fantasy place. Forgive the dramatics, but those golden arches were a bummer of a reminder of what I would be getting back to in too short of a time.
I have two kids, and we don't have a problem passing the McDonalds by.. My kids certainly aren't perfect food angels, and we go to Mc Donalds occasionally, but we eat different foods all the time, so they are used to new things, maybe. We've taken them to different countries and encouraged them to try different things, and they really enjoy it. Of course if they wanted some fries also, on occasion, I don't have a problem with it.
As far as the chain restaurant discussion, I don't think people's problem with the chain is that it is a chain itself, but some of us really like fresh ingredients and something indigenous to where you are staying. Not to say I don't love to go to Carrabas, I'm certainly no snob, but I love restaurants with fresh, local ingredients. I think "Supersize Me" was a great movie because it personally helped to wake me up about food choices. I am much more aware of ingredients in products, and make better choices. Before I think it was too much about efficiency and speed. I cook more now, and I pack my kids' lunch to have a little more control over what they are eating each day.
Of course, I must admit we went to France for a month, loved it, loved the food, tried everything. But there was one night, after about 3 weeks, when we hit a Hard Rock Cafe. I just had to have a big, disgusting cheeseburger, greasy french fries, and a huge soda. Heaven.![]()

I have nothing against McDonalds, but that's the last thing I want to eat when at Disney. I can get a Big Mac any day of the year. With all the different places to eat on vacation at Disney, why go to McDonalds?
Plus the one near Blizzard Beach.
On our recent trip, I used one CS to get a Bratwurst at Sommerfest in the Germany section. Now, let me say, Ive eaten at Germany table service (biergarten) twice, and I wasnt that impressed with the food either time. I ordered it as more of a "mark this CS off the list of never did before places", and didnt have big expectations. It was to DIE for!!! It was one of the best sausages I have ever eaten! I liked the texture best. No gristle like in a hillshire farms; just tasty meat. The craut was good too. I was impressed.if they're hungry enough, they'll try that bratwurst from Germany,
RUDE!!!
We just got back. McDonalds is one of only 2 food complaints I had, but it was the only real one of the two. I was on my way to Illuminations. My son was having a fit, and needed his meds fast. It was almost time for Illuminations, and the right spot is everything, so i sent her to get a few waters for us all to quench our thirst, and so my son could take his meds (it was in the mid- upper 90s all week!!!). We have ALWAYS got free water in WDW. This OBNOXIOUS CM (yeah, theres a few of them there) at McDonalds in Epcot really made my wife angry. She asked for 3 waters. he grabbed bottled waters, and she said (nicely) I'd just like cups of water please". (cups of water are free, bottled water isnt) He said (very hatefully) "We do NOT give away cups of water!!!" Another CM gave him a surprised look and handed him 3 cups of water with lids. He shoved them away, threw them in the trash, scorned the CM, and said NO! She will get THESE!!!" He handed my wife 3 little thin plastic cups of ice water with no lids. Now, picture... my wife standing there with 2 children, one autistic, pitching a fit, the other a hyper 4 yr old trying to get away, and a stroller. How the HECK is she going to carry 3 individual waters with no lids??? They have ALWAYS gave us a tray, 3-4 waters, that were in full sized cups with lids and straws. She took them, and unable to carry them, threw them in the trash can right in front of him, and we reported him to guest services.
Who peed in his cornflakes?
That was a first in "water rudeness"![]()
Now, just in case one of you asks.... YES, I tried to take the children with me to save a seat, but they are "mommys kids". they want mommy 24/7. As a dad, I'm cold liver. They only want me when they want something from a store.![]()
Also I have a brother with severe food allergies(if he consumes dairy or eggs he will die) so McDonald's is pretty much a godsend because he can eat the burger(and the bun) and the fries and he is A-Ok. So this whole "if they're hungry they will eat it" is pretty much bull to me cause I would not want to kill my brother while at Disney.
Another point so a double cheeseburger is 390 calories, don't eat it! Why not have a grilled cheese sandwich, its only 60 calories or fajitas they have only 5 grams of fat.
It's your choice what to eat while at Disney, no one is forcing you to eat McDonald's do in return you shouldn't force your opinion on others.
Is this offer still available for 1 cs credit?

You ARE being difficult. And quite rude as well. If its free that means NO STRINGS ATTACHED! Free is FREE, who are YOU to determine what someone cant get for free??? BTW, the CM I contacted later at guest services said I was in the right. He apologised for the rude behaviour and reported it. So now YOU know more than guest services???Not trying to be difficult but I'm wondering why if the kids wanted mom you didn't let her go with them to save a seat and go get the water yourself instead of sending your wife to the counter with 2 kids, one of whom you say was pitching a fit? I don't know about your DW but I'd be livid if my DH did that to me.
And while the CM was obviously rude, I can't imagine going in any restaurant and asking for 3 free waters without ordering anything. Sure water is free but it's meant for customers (of the specific restaurant) - it's seems a little over the top to expect not 1 but 3 waters and then expect them to be of a certain size and to have lids. Sure the CM was beyond rude - he shouldn't have been nasty or thrown a fit but he ceetainly had a right to say that the free water is only the small cups w/o lids. After all, it's free. And while you've gotten large cups in the past, that doesn't mean anyone is owed them. Disney if choosing to give away free water and they can choose to provide them in small or large cups as they prefer or Disney could decide to discontinue giving free water at anytime since there are water fountains and they are, as everyone points out, a for profit business.
Can you show me this in writing? Who's the paying customer of the toilet paper you use in the park?Sure water is free but it's meant for customers (of the specific restaurant)
McDonalds is one of the biggest businesses in the entire world. I dont think THEY are sweating over a couple free cups of water. So why are YOU so bent out of shape over it?they are, as everyone points out, a for profit business.
Thankfully, we're not married.I don't know about your DW but I'd be livid if my DH did that to me.
