McDonalds in Epcot, did you know this!!?

I was just at Epcot 2 weeks ago and I didn't even notice MDs. I was hurrying to make my reservation at Le Cellieur. I think I could pass on MDs while at Disney.

I have skimmed through this thread and I couldn't see the answer I was looking for. Since my DS4 is real picky. He would love nuggets. What can kids get there if on th dining plan?

I am a little sad to see McD there, not because I care if your kids eat there or not, but because I think of Disney as being "out of the world." I like being on WDW property the whole time, away from the problems and stresses for a few short days. Passing a McDonald in my "real life" happens every day, so I was a little bummed to see it right in the middle of a wonderful fantasy place. Forgive the dramatics, but those golden arches were a bummer of a reminder of what I would be getting back to in too short of a time.

I have two kids, and we don't have a problem passing the McDonalds by.. My kids certainly aren't perfect food angels, and we go to Mc Donalds occasionally, but we eat different foods all the time, so they are used to new things, maybe. We've taken them to different countries and encouraged them to try different things, and they really enjoy it. Of course if they wanted some fries also, on occasion, I don't have a problem with it.

As far as the chain restaurant discussion, I don't think people's problem with the chain is that it is a chain itself, but some of us really like fresh ingredients and something indigenous to where you are staying. Not to say I don't love to go to Carrabas, I'm certainly no snob, but I love restaurants with fresh, local ingredients. I think "Supersize Me" was a great movie because it personally helped to wake me up about food choices. I am much more aware of ingredients in products, and make better choices. Before I think it was too much about efficiency and speed. I cook more now, and I pack my kids' lunch to have a little more control over what they are eating each day.

Of course, I must admit we went to France for a month, loved it, loved the food, tried everything. But there was one night, after about 3 weeks, when we hit a Hard Rock Cafe. I just had to have a big, disgusting cheeseburger, greasy french fries, and a huge soda. Heaven. :drinking1
I understand that people want to be away from the everyday. I do know that Disney has always had sponsors for their resturants as well as attractions. I have been going to Disneyland since the 70's and everything was always "brought to you by..." . Carnation, Stouffer's I also believe even places like Texaco have sponsored Disney. McDonald's has been a part of Disney for a long time and so have many other places (McD's is just more of a part than others)

We have one of those replicas of the park maps from DL first opened more than fifty years ago. On it, there are Coca-Cola, Pepsi Cola and Welch's Grape Juice booths, along with the Chicken of the Sea restaurant, Aunt Jemima's Pancake House and the Swift Market House, Chicken Plantation and Red Wagon Inn. And that's just the food--if you include all the corporate sponsorships of attractions and stores (Kaiser, Monsanto, Eastman, etc.), I start to wonder whether Walt spent any of his own money at all!

RUDE!!!
We just got back. McDonalds is one of only 2 food complaints I had, but it was the only real one of the two. I was on my way to Illuminations. My son was having a fit, and needed his meds fast. It was almost time for Illuminations, and the right spot is everything, so i sent her to get a few waters for us all to quench our thirst, and so my son could take his meds (it was in the mid- upper 90s all week!!!). We have ALWAYS got free water in WDW. This OBNOXIOUS CM (yeah, theres a few of them there) at McDonalds in Epcot really made my wife angry. She asked for 3 waters. he grabbed bottled waters, and she said (nicely) I'd just like cups of water please". (cups of water are free, bottled water isnt) He said (very hatefully) "We do NOT give away cups of water!!!" Another CM gave him a surprised look and handed him 3 cups of water with lids. He shoved them away, threw them in the trash, scorned the CM, and said NO! She will get THESE!!!" He handed my wife 3 little thin plastic cups of ice water with no lids. Now, picture... my wife standing there with 2 children, one autistic, pitching a fit, the other a hyper 4 yr old trying to get away, and a stroller. How the HECK is she going to carry 3 individual waters with no lids??? They have ALWAYS gave us a tray, 3-4 waters, that were in full sized cups with lids and straws. She took them, and unable to carry them, threw them in the trash can right in front of him, and we reported him to guest services.
Who peed in his cornflakes?
That was a first in "water rudeness" :lmao:
Now, just in case one of you asks.... YES, I tried to take the children with me to save a seat, but they are "mommys kids". they want mommy 24/7. As a dad, I'm cold liver. They only want me when they want something from a store.:happytv:

I have nothing against McDonalds, but that's the last thing I want to eat when at Disney. I can get a Big Mac any day of the year. With all the different places to eat on vacation at Disney, why go to McDonalds?

For sure, I just sometimes get fries if my DS9 wants something "quick" to eat.

When my son was young, there were very few things he would eat outside of mommy's cooking (which in and of itself was severely restricted as well). As much as I hate the thought of another chain at WDW, McD's provides a lot of parents with something their kids recognize and will eat. The kids have to eat. And not all kids will eat what's put in front of them unless it's something recognizable. They'll just get progressively more cranky til they're unbearable to be around. So as much as I hate the thought of it, McD's does get a yes vote from me.

I'm amazed at all the comments about picky kids and how they must have their McD's. There were kids long before there was a McD's and somehow they didn't starve.

Amen to that. I like to leave McD's behind in the real world. We go right to the countries - if they're hungry enough, they'll try that bratwurst from Germany, or anything else for that matter. My motto: You won't know until you try it! :scared:

Plus the one near Blizzard Beach.

LOL, that one saved me this year. I never realized it was there but we went one night when we were just tired of POP food LOL and I ordered an iced tea....getting ready to add my 6 sugars LOL and the lady behind the counter said their tea was SWEET! Oh my...you're kidding? All week and no 'real' sweet tea....this stuff was like syrup! YUM LOL

Sorry...but when you don't drink sodas and I'd drank water all week and an occasional hot tea with lemon it was nice to have something normal. Plus with 7 of us....McDonalds was a nice budget meal too since everything at the world is twice the price.

if they're hungry enough, they'll try that bratwurst from Germany,
On our recent trip, I used one CS to get a Bratwurst at Sommerfest in the Germany section. Now, let me say, Ive eaten at Germany table service (biergarten) twice, and I wasnt that impressed with the food either time. I ordered it as more of a "mark this CS off the list of never did before places", and didnt have big expectations. It was to DIE for!!! It was one of the best sausages I have ever eaten! I liked the texture best. No gristle like in a hillshire farms; just tasty meat. The craut was good too. I was impressed.

This was the only place besides AK RFC that I found sweet tea, and we just chanced to stop here the 1st day at Epcot. I made sure and stopped there on the next tour through WS.

Not trying to be difficult but I'm wondering why if the kids wanted mom you didn't let her go with them to save a seat and go get the water yourself instead of sending your wife to the counter with 2 kids, one of whom you say was pitching a fit?:confused3 I don't know about your DW but I'd be livid if my DH did that to me.

And while the CM was obviously rude, I can't imagine going in any restaurant and asking for 3 free waters without ordering anything. Sure water is free but it's meant for customers (of the specific restaurant) - it's seems a little over the top to expect not 1 but 3 waters and then expect them to be of a certain size and to have lids. Sure the CM was beyond rude - he shouldn't have been nasty or thrown a fit but he ceetainly had a right to say that the free water is only the small cups w/o lids. After all, it's free. And while you've gotten large cups in the past, that doesn't mean anyone is owed them. Disney if choosing to give away free water and they can choose to provide them in small or large cups as they prefer or Disney could decide to discontinue giving free water at anytime since there are water fountains and they are, as everyone points out, a for profit business.

I know that the last time I went, McD was something nice and normal and familiar. I know that WDW has some of the best food on earth, but after about 4 or 5 days of eating in places I'd never heard of, and eating things I wasn't sure about, having a nice cheeseburger and fries felt really good! Plus, I'm from TN and it was one of the only places I could get a sweet tea!!

Okay so I've been working at McDonald's for about a year now and I've made it through the ranks to crew trainer. One thing about McD's is that it is very strict you must wash you're hands if you cross contaminate something, if you touch the meat and you must wash them on every half an hour on the dot. It has gotten a bit more sanitary.

Also I have a brother with severe food allergies(if he consumes dairy or eggs he will die) so McDonald's is pretty much a godsend because he can eat the burger(and the bun) and the fries and he is A-Ok. So this whole "if they're hungry they will eat it" is pretty much bull to me cause I would not want to kill my brother while at Disney.

Another point so a double cheeseburger is 390 calories, don't eat it! Why not have a grilled cheese sandwich, its only 60 calories or fajitas they have only 5 grams of fat.

It's your choice what to eat while at Disney, no one is forcing you to eat McDonald's do in return you shouldn't force your opinion on others.

So I guess you would be o.k. killing your brother somewhere other than Disney?:lmao:

WDW restaurants are known for their willingness to work around allergies. I don't think anyone here wants anyone to die due to a food allergy. But somehow kids did manage to survive before the advent of chicken nuggets.

What grilled cheese sandwich is 60 calories? I'd love to find some of those!

I'm not sure how stating an opinion is "forcing" it on someone.

Yup, I'd sure be interested in that 60 calorie grilled cheese sandwich. The bread alone is well over 100 calories.

Is this offer still available for 1 cs credit?
x

It was last week. For that one credit we got a 9 piece mcnuggets, large fries, large drink and a mcflurry. The 2 kids (and the ducks, and the bunny) shared it and were happy for a few hours (as long as we didn't skip any of the kidcot stops) while dh and I used up some snack credits at the F&WF. :cloud9:

You ARE being difficult. And quite rude as well. If its free that means NO STRINGS ATTACHED! Free is FREE, who are YOU to determine what someone cant get for free??? BTW, the CM I contacted later at guest services said I was in the right. He apologised for the rude behaviour and reported it. So now YOU know more than guest services???
Sure water is free but it's meant for customers (of the specific restaurant)
Can you show me this in writing? Who's the paying customer of the toilet paper you use in the park?:rotfl2: :rotfl2: How about the water fountains??? The water at the restaurants is for PAYING GUESTS of WALT DISNEY WORLD.
they are, as everyone points out, a for profit business.
McDonalds is one of the biggest businesses in the entire world. I dont think THEY are sweating over a couple free cups of water. So why are YOU so bent out of shape over it?
I don't know about your DW but I'd be livid if my DH did that to me.
Thankfully, we're not married. As far as who went and who stayed. Who cares???? Really??? What difference does it make??? She said "I'll get water" I said "OK I'll grab us a seat". Does YOUR husband take you to Disney 4 times a year? sheesh. lighten up.

signing off till next trip.... in 2 years (yes, 12 trips in 4 years has wore me thin of pixie dust.) So I wont be replying to any future attacks.:rolleyes1
I'll be on a different forum for a while planning my next trip back to Cancun.

flame away if it makes you feel better about yourself.
