We went through the drive thru tonight on the way home from girl scouts. My husband got an awesome crispy bacon ranch salad and a bag of sliced apples and caramel dip. I haven't eaten anything at McD's in about 4 yrs but I think I might have to get a salad of my own!!!

Yup, things are changing a McDonalds. Who knows, soon they may even have a fruit salad.

Our local Chick-Fil-A now has fruit salad. I think you can even sub it for fries in their combo meals.

I had one of their salads the other day and i was pretty impressed! There was a lot of salad and it was pretty tasty too.
Who knew salad could be tasty???

Pam

I like that McD's is starting to offer so many choices. If someone wants to eat healthier food, it's there and when someone feels the need for a Big Mac, it's there too. Works for me. :)

It dosnt work for me, I want to eat unhealthy and also want everyone else too

I'm with Pop Daddy. There are lots of places to get a salad. Who wants to go to Mickey D's for a salad? If I'm going to McDonalds, it's for something with a bun and fries. I can make salad at home:rolleyes:

Yeah, but it's not like they're discontinuing burgers and fries. They did downsize the portions of fries, which they SHOULD do, considering they didn't make them that large until a few years ago.

I think it's good that they're offering alternatives for people who don't want to eat traditional fast food all the time. In my family my brother, sister, and mother get their usuals, while my dad orders the salad to make an attempt at eating healthier. Occasionally I'll go for the salad, but usually I can't resist those fries! ;)

What I am mad about is that they stopped frying their fries in the chicken fat or whatever horrible thing they used to do. The fries were much yummier when they did that :(

I guess it's all for the best, they're are alot of overweight people in this country. I'm not going to get into a who's fault is it debate, but it's a good thing that McDonald's is offering healthy alternatives.

Ewwww! When was this? I think I prefered the days when I didn't care what was in my food. So what if thier "chicken nuggets" were made with everything but chicken! They were still yummy! I love the Fiesta Salad, although I felt silly ordering an "adult happy meal"

That is funny -- we just did the same thing tonight and I also thought the same thing. But I got nuggets and fries, the carbs were calling me.

McDonald's is trying to make things available to people who are more health concious and don't want a fat and sugar laden meal. Sure, I would love a great big chicken sandwich and fries, but I think I'd rather live a happier, healthier life and live a few years longer.

I didn't know they stopped frying their fries in chicken grease. I was a vegetarian for a long time and was bummed that I couldn't have them.

It wasn't chicken fat they were frying in, it was beef fat. They were good though ...many many many moons ago!!

I LOVE the Fiesta salads! My kids always want to go there, and now I don't mind.

This thread makes me think of the bestseller book Fast Food Nation by Eric Schlosser. You will never eat at a fast food restaurant again (even salad!) when you learn about McD's and other fast food chain practices as far as slaughterhouses and their workers go. I would really recommend the book, I had to read it for a college course.

I got the adult happy meal this week with the bacon/cheddar salad with grilled chicken and Newman's Own lowfat vinigarette dressing (total calories = 290) that was yummy. You can get a bottle of water or a medium drink of your choice, plus a step-o-meter and a little guidebook about eating healthier and exercising. The booklet said you should shoot for 10,000 steps a day. I made it to 11,000 yesterday!

I had the fiesta taco salad (which is new) from McD's today for lunch, and it was really delicious. You can get it in the "Adult Happy Meal".
