Wait wait wait wait wait. You've been sneering that McCain will win - even your derogatory departing comment re: tissues says this. Yet you have NOTHING TO BASE THIS ON. And now you dare to tell me off for predicting that Obema will win?!

You know what? I am plumping for Obama to win. Why? Because I have a clue. I have polls. You may whine and cry about how polls are not infallible, but you have nothing to counter them.

Pathetic.

Rich::

Anger, hostility, and even "plumping" (?), just because I pointed out that McCain-Palin will win in November. My work here is done.

Rich::

You don't even live in America- why do you care so much? Seriously.

Rich... save yourself some heartache and add loco to your blocklist.

It's made my time on these threads much more pleasant.

Counting your chickens before they've hatched? Lets wait till the dust settles on Nov 4.

Hmmm. Blocked, but not really. Clearly, your time on these threads is much more pleasant with me in it. Awwww. That's sweet. :)

I just think it's a little odd that Rich gets so worked up about BO and he isn't even a citizen. I get caring about it but he goes way beyond.

I'll give you those...
Well, thanks, I suppose.

I think you should think things through a bit. You're making statements that will make you look very silly, in retrospect, if you are wrong. The folks who are saying that Obama will likely win are, first of all, saying that he'll likely win, and, secondly, they are explaining a rational basis for their prediction. You're saying that McCain will win (without qualification), and you're not providing any rational basis for your declaration. I cannot help wondering: How do you expect that to help your cause? Four weeks ago, I was a "likely McCain voter" so I can readily put myself in the head of folks still supporting McCain, and gosh I'd be so embarrassed reading what you're writing, if I was still supporting McCain.

Seriously: :hippie:

One click and I can read any post that's from one of my blocked users :) Seeing that it was the first post after I posted, I was curious if you had quoted.

What'll happen to the world when America goes marxist? Seriously.

The US won't go Marxist. Plain and simple. It will go more liberal, but Marxism will never happen.

Now back to the mute button.

How do you know they're sampling like that?

Rasmussen admits on their website they are typically sampling at a 41-32, D-R split. They have an article explaining their reasoning on the site entitled "Why polls sometimes show different results." Gallup, CBS, SurveyUSA, Quinnipac, etc. are all doing the same thing, although the oversampling is even more extreme in some cases. The argument made is that range, based on their own polling not official registration data, represents how many people are actually registered R or D, and thus more likely to vote for their corresponding candidate. There's disagreement over whether or not those splits are accurate. One reason is because many conservatives (myself included) were registered Republicans but became undeclared after getting fed up with various things. But, most of those same people are still most likely voting Republican.

US elections are always imporant on a global level :) Like I said, when the US sneezes, the rest of the world catches a cold.

What happens in the US affects the world in such a matter that many foreigners have to care even if they don't have a say.

To repeat - I said I understand why he cares but why does he go overboard?

Well, I'd never be "embarrassed" among a group of anonymous posters on a Disney World board. I mean, really, who cares? And as I've explained a few times already, I believe the polls are oversampled in Obama's favor. The fact that the media pollsters still think they have to do that tells me a lot about what an accurate poll might say. Polls always favor the democrat. Always. I also think that Barack Obama is a very far-left candidate, which makes much of his support, in my mind, rather weak and tenuous. People are saying, "Yeah, well, maybe" right now, but as the election comes closer they'll make a more conservative choice. Not conservative in a political sense, but conservative in the sense of deciding they aren't comfortable with someone so far left when a moderate is sitting right there. People, generally, don't like extremes — to the right or the left, and Obama is the most extreme leftist candidate the dems have ever fielded. The electorate has historically broken for the Republican candidate as the election nears, and I just believe that this year it will be very easy for many to do that because I think they already have some concerns about Obama being so far outside of the mainstream, though they might be marginally interested in him today.

What makes you so sure?

I could say perhaps its more exciting than whats going on in the UK? I know that I've gotten into barroom debates in the islands with several foreigners who are more passionate about our election than their own.

That's a shame- really. I care what goes on in the world but the good ole US of A is my primary concern:)

Same here - would that more Americans felt the same way, and put as much effort into this country as they did into worrying about what other countries think of us.

I'm hoping for McCain, but I really think Obama will win. I do think it's the Democrats (mostly) who caused this mortgage meltdown, but I think it will stick in people's minds as a Republican problem since they were the ones in office when the ticking time bomb actually blew up. I also think there's a good chance an Obama win will create a lot of conservatives for a landslide Republican win in 2012 (much like Carter's presidency made the way for Reagan's landslide victory).

This is what I feel too. I'm very worried that Obama is going to take this one. I have no doubt that his presidency will be a monumental disaster and the next one will be an easy win for the Republicans, but I'm still petrified about the damage that he will do if he is in office for 4 years. :sad1: I'm sure that there are many people who don't realize what they will get with an Obama presidency. :guilty:

I agree with the two above posters.

I haven't made up my mind. ;)

So those two handsome fellows in your signature are just eye candy?:rotfl:

All in good fun; I promise.

McCain and especially Palin really scares me. We have already spent the last 8 years having so many of our rights taken away from us and I'm really not ready to let go of more rights.

I guess I missed the whole "rights being taken away" thing. I've been here, and I have the exact same rights in 2008 as I did in 2000.
