That's because it wasn't directed at you. If you read the thread before mine you will get it.

Really I don't see how anyone showing up for Letterman is a big deal to anyone but Letterman, all he would have done is cracked some jokes and talked all crazy trying to entertain people and you wouldn't have learned a thing about anything so to me what's the big deal.
I would have canceled him too, if I were trying to run for president and take care of other business, who has time to sit and have a bunch of jokes cracked at thenselves.
But you do have to admit that you know who Letterman likes and pretends to like, he can turn any conversation around and make you look stupid if he wants to, it's not like a news interview where they use tack and keep to the questions and I'm sure Mccain didn't feel like bothing with that with everything else going on.
More of the voting public watches Letterman (and Leno) than they do Couric. Which is why the candidates all try to get on the shows. It also allows them to show their more human side when they joke and tell personal stories with the host. It is quite important to their campaigns actually.
True, and McCain has never shied away from these types of shows. There are times though when candidates determine it just isn't appropriate, such as when Obama cancelled his SNL appearance.
Okey dokey, then I guess you agree that Charlie Gibson used great questions and all the tact in the world with Sarah Palin. And that Sarah Palin just couldn't answer the tough ones.
Honestly, I don't believe ANY of our candidates belong on Letterman or Leno or even The View. I don't care who they are and what political party they belong to, especially during such a truly turbulant time.
The idea that ANY politician would take time out of their schedule to be on such a frivolous show with the current economic crisis would have been irresponsible, imo.
Also, celebrities like Letterman have no idea what the average person is struggling with. David will still be making his $30+ million a year regardless of what happens on Wall St. I fell Letterman is the one who comes off as petty by being so nasty at McCain's cancellation.

After you posted that I turned on Letterman on my Tivo. Wow. It's crazy that they actually broadcast live video footage of him caught in a lie. Pretty smart move by the producers.
I'm of the opinion of many that it's fine that he cancelled (which Letterman said as well) but he personally called Letterman and said he was getting immediately on a plane to DC... then went and did an interview with Couric. Why not just say something like "right now a lot of Americans are in a serious crisis and I feel I need to be seen on a news show not a comedy show?" I think that would have gone over alot better... at the very least it would not have been comic fodder or given them the chance to show him live caught in a lie.
True but Obama stated he was cancelling because it wasn't appropriate at the time. He did not lie and say he was getting immediately on a plane to DC, all the while being filmed in a make up chair a block away.

Come on, Charade and Meatball. McCain blew it. You know it. If this would have been Obama you would have been howling for his blood. Aren't you being disingenuous?
Couric is a NEWS anchor. Letterman is well... Letterman.
I agree, but have the nerve to tell him like a grown up
lmao: )"Dude, Couric offered, and I need to get the word out, and well, Dave, dude, you are cool, but I need serious exposure and this juncture"
Seriously though, McCain needs Couric....at least he should say it to Dave's face, or voicemail. Cause it just looks bad when you just dumped one for the other.

I think most Americans would agree with me in saying I could give a flying f*** if McCain canceled on Letterman. Just as I wouldn't give a crap if Obama did the same thing. There are other more pressing issues than this. I can't stand watching Letterman anymore anyways because his jokes just got so political.

Couric is a NEWS anchor. Letterman is well... Letterman.
