MB uncomfortable...

Magic bands arrived yesterday. The molded bends on each side of the chip are to narrow to allow the band to fit like a watch, with the chip on the top of my wrist. I would have to turn the band so the chip is on the inside of my wrist. Instead of a nice oval shape that would fit the wrist this " hump" caused by the chip is a turn off for me. Off course I also don't wear jewelry in general so I may be more sensitive to this. Bottom line is I don't think I will want to wear this thing all day. I also received two regular tickets so I'm hoping I can just use those?

Is there anything the MBs do that I can't do with a card?

I'd rather pull a card out of my pocket than wear this band all day...

If the tickets you have are the same ones tied to your MBs then you shouldn't have a problem just using those. We've used our APs to open our resort rooms and make charges too. It all ties together through your MDE account.

I've read where some people buy the covers and that makes the band more comfortable for them. Or else they hook it to a belt loop or on a bag.

I do think it would be nice if you had the choice of one or the other. Me, I loved having the band on and not having to dig for my card all of the time.:)

We all wore ours backwards with the Mickey on the inside of our wrists. When we needed to scan it, we just held the inside up to the scanner. I noticed a lot of people doing it that way.

I personally don't find them that uncomfortable but it probably depends on the size and shape of your wrist.

I have seen people wearing them through a belt loop on their pants or around the straps of a bag that they are carrying rather than wearing them on their wrists. Perhaps that might work for you.

That's been a concern of mine too. I don't wear bracelets any more unless it's for a very short period of time. And my watches are bought with my "comfort" in mind -- not firm or fixed, but loose (more like a linked bracelet). I have a tinkerbelle lanyard that I'm probably going to wear instead of having the band on my wrist for hours.
We never had a problem with finding our card because we wore a lanyard of some type and once we were in the park, the card only had to be removed if we were getting a fast pass from the machines -- a rare occurrence for us. And it was NEVER difficult to locate the card if we wanted to charge something. We seriously never charged anything to our rooms.
We had more choices with cards than we will with the band. DH is going to mind the idea more than I do.

I actually emailed Disney about this and a few other concerns. Yesterday they called to talk to me. I explained how I thought Disney should consider giving guests a choice and I was told that you could definitely request a card when you arrive and simply not use the band. I was told the card will do everything the band will do, including your fast passes. This is what I will be doing as I have sensitive skin. I can't even wear my wedding band because it causes a rash. So, no jewelry for me.

As for the tickets you have, they need to be RFID chipped. If not, again go to guest services when you arrive and they will help with that.

We found them very comfortable.
DH wore is 24 hours a day for the 2 weeks we were there and find it quite comfortable and he never wears anything on his wrists.

Looking forward to our next trip which will be the first with the MB. I've also wondered how comfortable it would be as I have never liked to wear a watch or bracelet for any length of time. I also never wear belts or have anything with a belt loop, lol. I always have some kind of bag (fanny pack or mini shoulder bag) but would be afraid of losing the MB somehow.
Glad there is the option of the card.

We have use them three times and I found them sweaty and uncomfortable (and we weren't even there in the hottest summer months!). After the first day I took to hooking it around my vera lanyard which carries my id, DVC card, cash etc.

And let's not talk about the tan lines LOL.

My magic band has been attached to my purse strap for months. Like everyday, it is just there( we live very locally). It does have a cover on it so it can't be hooked on anything and fall off. I find the band to be extremely uncomfortable so that was my solution.

And FWIW, if we are carrying around our other cards then no need to wear bracelets (we go in August and it is brutally hot!) I usually have a case clipped to my clothing (same as when I wear my ID tags for work; not around my neck)

I agree they're uncomfortable. But what worked for my family is attaching them to your wrist so they are loose. Not too loose to fall off, but loose enough so that it can spin around. The Mickey head will fall off to the side, but that's okay. You can just move it on top of your wrist to access the touch points throughout the park. That's what worked best for us.

I wear a backpack and I attach it to the loop on the strap. I agree they're uncomfortable, especially if you have larger wrists.

They fit my kids fine, and my mom. But they have tiny little wrists. LOL But I've done this three times now and haven't lost one yet. When the kids get tired of wearing theirs I just loop theirs through mine. It's like a big chain of MBs attached to my strap. :) And then it's easier to scan them... Bing bang bong!

DH and I were there in Dec and used the MB's. I thought they were not very comfortable and they got sweaty in the hot weather. We purchased the covers for them and it was much better. I didn't even notice they were there after I put the cover on it.

For medical reasons, I can't wear bracelets. I plan to hook it to a lanyard around my neck, or possibly a retractable cord on a belt loop.

There really isn't any reason you couldn't put it in your pocket, just like a card. But this way, you don't have to stand in line to ask for a card.

We found them very uncomfortable as well. The way it is premolded just does not work well for some people. My youngest would not wear his at all. I would either put them over a long sleeve or in my bag. Next trip i am sticking with the old key cards in a lanyard.

OP here, I'm off work for the day and I'm wearing the MB now to try it out ... never been able to wear a watch or even my wedding ring. not that its uncomfortable, I just don't think I'll like wearing it....

I never thought pulling the card out of my wallet was a big issue..

I am not a big fan of things on my wrist. I don't carry a purse to the park and didn't have belt loops or a lanyard, so I played around and made do with the band. (just the description, I'm sure, Disney wants attached to their multi bazillon dollar investment!) for me, the bump was most comfortable on the inside of my arm, do Mickey was facing away from me. It was backwards of how most people were wearing theirs. Keep experimenting. I do/did think it was ridiculously hot underneath it.
