I'm not thrilled with the choice offered from Disney. Is there just not many family friendly things to do here? We have currently 4 adults and 6 kids ranging from 7 to 13 at the time of the cruise. Any ideas? Is it doable do just walk around on our own?

I am feeling the same as you, dopeyfanatic. And unfortunately, we are going to be in Mazatlan on my birthday - March 3rd - so I was hoping to do something pretty spectacular that day. But the excursions in this port leave a lot to be desired... :confused3 I may just end up booking a bunch of stuff at the spa. :goodvibes

A friend who has vacationed on Cozumel recommend the park to me with the family.

Mazatlan is on the pacific side....

Have you checked out DEER ISLAND for the day? Looks like a great place for family time. Disney's excursions are expensive. We booked a couple excursions through this company- ziplining in PV and 4x4's in Cabo (still deciding on Deer Island). So much cheaper then Disney. My kids are 10,12,14.

I was going to say Deer Island also. I really don't think there's a whole lot else to do there. After our resort excursion, we took a taxi to town where there were a lot of little shops.

Looks like there just isn't that much to do there. Maybe we'll stay on the boat..... I wish they did one of those pirate cruises here.

We will be going on the 1/23/11 cruise. We have booked with Randi's Happy Horses with a whole group of us that have met here on the DIS. :woohoo: We also have someone booked with Mazatlan Frank's for a fishing trip. Personally, so far, Randi has gone above & beyond with arrangements for all of us! She will pick us up & drop us off @ the terminal. We have various ages and skill levels and she will match us up accordingly. I can't wait!
My issue with Mazatlan is they keep changing the departure time. Originally we were to leave @ 7:30, online it says 4:30 but I called DCL and they have 6:00. It is a little nerve wracking. :scared: I will try and post back here with a report but if not feel free to PM me in February.
Later,
Sue

You can always go to Stone Island on your own and have a great beach day. You can walk from the terminal to the water taxi's. $2ea. to take the water taxi to Stone Island. There are lots of great places to eat right on the beach and you can rent ATV's, horses, etc a lot cheaper than doing a DCL excursion. We did the ATV's and it was $35ea for an hour when we went back in 2008. Someone said you could rent horses for $5 1/2hr. (not sure on that one) We also did Randi's horses here on a separate cruise.
