Maybe a bit strange question but in the Netherlands where I live it is custom to eat fries with mayonaise instead of ketchup. I don't really like ketchup. I've heard that a lot of restaurants use mayonaise in other forms, such on a sandwich or as part of a sauce. Is it possible at most restaurants to get mayonaise with my fries? I don't mind paying extra but I'm just hoping that it is possible at all, or should I take my own mayonaise with me to the parks? Could I ask my server for this?

Your server would be more than happy to bring out mayo if it's available (I see no reason why it wouldn't be at 99% of restaurants), generally at no extra charge! In certain QS restaurants, they'll have a bar where you can get your own mayo-- again, for free. I definitely don't recommend bringing your own mayo into the parks, especially if you'll be visiting in the warmer months.

If you want mayonnaise packets that are closer to the European variety I'm pretty sure you'll find it at the UK Pavilion's Yorkshire County Fish Shop.

Good memories of a college friend who had travelled to your part of the world and developed this preference! Sounds like you'll be able to enjoy it on vacation!

It's not uncommon in Canada, though I don't like it myself. Not sure what your mayo is like at home, but at WDW you'd likely get either Hellman's or Kraft, neither of which I personally consider to really be mayonnaise (I make my own if I'm putting it on a sandwich) or something similar. So I'd suggest you ask for it on the side so you can decide if it's equivalent to what you're expecting.

Hellman's is the closest I know to store bought mayo in the Benelux countries and France. I've never tried Kraft's mayo but a friend tells me that Kraft makes a version called Homestyle that could rival Hellman's. Told her I wasn't sure if I should believe her since she used to use MiracleWhip;):D.

Which, in my books, does not even come close to what mayonnaise should be! While I don't consider Hellman's to be real mayonnaise either, I will at least use it occasionally as a base for marinades or sauces if I don't want to make my own or can't use yoghurt. I wouldn't even allow MiracleWhip in my house.

Good to know when travelling in those countries.

I used to belong to a forum where there were certain topics guaranteed to get the juices flowing: "Hellman's or MiracleWhip", "TP- Up or Down?" and since toilet paper was such a constant, "Is it Alright to TP the Neighbor's House for Halloween?". Any of those topics always ended in a virtual foodfight. Gosh, I miss those crazee womens!

You might already know this but be prepared for how different American mayonnaise is. I prefer mayo too but don't eat it much. It's ok on fries but not as good.

Oh my gosh, I have always loved mayo with my fries! And I always get weird looks from friends and family. Don't care, it's awesome :thumbsup2 But I've never had a problem anywhere in the U.S. when asking for mayo with my fries.

I'd be less concerned about mayonnaise than the fries themselves. Let us know if any WDW fries even begin to approach the ones served in the Netherlands (Belgium, too).
