Member Cruise

Just back from the DVC meeting on the Member Cruise. This is the sales portion of the cruise and usually has good incentives and some nice raffle prizes as well. This year was no exception. The incentives listed below are ONLY available to those sailing on this cruise and you must add while on the cruise. They said over 50 families have already added on and were in line when they opened the clubhouse yesterday.

Here are the incentives:

BLT points good until 2060, AKL points good until 2057. Base incentives for booking - $5 per point off of Bay Lake Towers (which is selling for $112 per point before this reduction) or $8 per point off of Animal Kingdom Lodge (which is selling for $104 per point before the production. This is good for adding on anything over 120 points.

For 120 point in addition to the above you get a special Mickey Big Fig Statue and a 4 night stay in the new Treehouse Villas before booking opens to the general public.

For 200 point add on you get a 5 night stay Savannah view at AKL in a 2 bedroom, fast passes good for your whole family for the length of stay and $250 visa gift card or $250 shipboard credit on this cruise.

For 270 point add on you get either a 7 night stay in a Magic Kingdom 2 bedroom at BLT (with fast passes), or if you don’t want to wait until BLT opens a 4 night stay in the Contemporary Tower, or a Cat 6 stateroom for 2 on next years Member Cruise to be held 9/13/09. This comes with a $300 visa card or shipboard credit.

For 360 points you get the special ABD Backstage Member Exclusive Tour on May 12,2009 for 2, or any one of 10 other ABD trips. This comes with a $400 visa card or shipboard credit.

For 500 points there is a 7 night stay at the Grand Wailea in Maui in an ocean view room, or the exclusive Member ABD trip to Italy on 7/20/09 or any ABD for 2. This comes with a $750 visa credit or shipboard credit.

Amazing to think about the money they make off of DVC to offer those great incentives.

Based on this, what do you anticipate AKL incentives would be for first-time purchasers? I am very interested in buying into DVC (and love AKL), and am trying to justify it with some incentives which are better than the last go around . . .

My guess is that they willl release that information this week. The other incentives just ended. Plus if you hang out here this week.....you might see others that join the board or members that just bought into AKV and they might be ablet to shed some light on that. Good Luck!!!

I am guessing that those incentives are being offered only on the Member Cruise. They traditionally give more perks on the Member Cruise. They were nowhere near that good when we cruised.

Yeah we would all have to be cruising....one day one day. BUT then....would it cause me to catch that horrible ADDONITIS BUG if I went on a cruise wieth stuff like this offered???:rotfl2:

What catches my eye is the "fast passes good for your whole family for the length of stay"

I know it doesn't cost Disney anything to distribute these, but boy do those save a whole lot of time!

UGH.... that would be sweet.

That would be like the equivalent of getting a full day back on a 7-day trip IMO.

In December we did the 7 night cruise and I made the "mistake" of going to those meetings. Even tho we are NOT buying any more points - have enough - they made it sound sooooooo tempting. But we resisted - friends of ours didn't tho :goodvibes

I would jump on this if they offered it to the general public:

"For 270 point add on you get either a 7 night stay in a Magic Kingdom 2 bedroom at BLT (with fast passes)"

Anyone know what the incentives are on just-plain cruises that are not members cruises? We were planning to buy a fairly major chunk of BLT soon; the right incentives might convince us that we need a cruise first.:yay:

It would be nice to know the date GVC will start selling, so I could be on a cruise and snag an incentive like this.

May have to grab a last-second cruise the instant I hear about GVC opening for sale.

I don't think any Disney cruise will do. You have to be on the Member Cruise. Which by the way...I'm not sure how I feel about them getting the better deal. What's so special about the Member Cruise? How about if you go to the Annual Member Meeting or the Wednesday Member meetings. Can you get the deal then?

How about any current member can get the deal? It's just not offered to new members. Now that I can support.

I was thinking the exact same thing!!

WOW- those are some kick-butt incentives. It is interesting that they are giving away Xnights here or there instead of developer points.
