D23 is having a special Aloha Aulani Reception event June 30th where D23 members can get a peek at the new resort....later in the week they can talk about membership. Do you think this is when they'll show the point charts?

They didn't release the VGC point charts until a few days before sales started. So if that's any indication, I'd say no. Does anyone know when sales will begin? I've heard rumors of sometime this summer...

All my guide would commit to was "I'll call you the day they go on sale"

if it's not opening until "fall" 2011, I would think sales wouldn't start until q4 2010 at the earliest.

I got a call from my guide last week, while we were staying at VGC, he wanted to welcome us to the VGC, find out if there was anything he could do for us, and also to let me know that he had just found out that sales would begin in July for Hawaii, but that he had no info. on points or price/point but would let me know as soon as he knew anything. He did say that they were all surprised by July and that it was earlier that had been anticipated.

When sales started for BLT and VGC, how much time was there between the announcement that sales would commence and the date sales actually began???

I believe that BLT sales started in Sept/Oct 2008 and the resort was scheduled to open Sept, 2009. It actually opened a month early, August 4th, 2009.

I am not positive about VGC, but I think sales started in January, 2009 and it opened around November, 2009.

Bay Lake Tower was officially announced 16 September 2008 and sales began to existing members I think somewhere around 3 or 5 October and sales to new members began about a week later.

And when I say "officially announced" I mean it - remember that even as construction was going on, there was no word whatsoever from Disney or DVC about what the building was going to be. When we did the DVC tour in late June 2008, they were not commenting on it at all.

Those were my thoughts exactly...why have an event specifically for that? That would make sense....as they said say specifically "if you're interested, you can sign up to attend a session that week to learn more about Aulani and Disney Vacation Club. "

The fine print states that this D23 event is not a timeshare marketing solicitation. Therefore I doubt that point charts, costs or any other DVC-related details will be revealed.

I don't think it can be a "timeshare marketing solicitation" becuase I don't think that they are authorized to sell the timeshare yet in CA or any other state.

I still think they will be announcing something and are using the D23 group to get some extra mileage out of it. There is no need to do another D23 event in CA at this time, as they already have one scheduled on 6/17, 6/25 and 7/10. -- Suzanne

They may be announcing "something" but they cannot discuss timeshare related topics like sale prices and point charts without the legal disclosures that the event includes solicitation of timeshare sales.
