Okay, this is probably the height of stupidity, but here goes.

We intend to get AP's this year so that we can make next year's vacation a trip to DL as well. My son has entered the realm of adult tickets, but my daughter is only 5. My mother is going to have a 5-day PH. So, could I use my mother's PH to upgrade to an AP for my daughter? Am I having a brain-dead moment? (don't answer that last question...I don't really want to know.)

No, because if you used your mother's adult park hopper ticket to upgrade they would know th gig was up. Also, you take the park hopper over to where they do the AP's and have a photo id taken of everybody kids included (we did this last April). One thought, if you are only taking one more trip on these AP's and just doing this for AP discounts you could just do one AP and get discounts on meals and rooms for the whole family. Lastly, there is a never a brain dead moment for somebody smart enough to go to Disneyland as much as possible!

The OP said they'd use them for next year's trip. But, the cms at the processing center would see that the PH is an adult, plus what kind of ticket would your daughter be getting in with then? The processing center is inside Disneyland, so you either have to have a valid park ticket or the AP voucher to go through the gates in the first place. Plus I'm guessing your mother is joining you on this trip, so she'd still need her ticket and even if they did let you use it to get your daughter's AP (which I'm not sure costs more than a 5-day PH--would have to check the prices), then your mom would have no ticket.

Unless they've changed something you must sign the park hopper ticket each time you enter the park. Therefore if you mothers sig is on it they may not take it for the child. (though I think they have an adult sign for a child, I think they try for the parents).

Okay, that's what I thought. We've ordered the AP's.

My mother's not sure that she's going now, anyway. Thanks everyone!
