Maybe something to come out for those blackout dates??

I just added a day to the beginning of our trip to save money on airfare. I thought I could use either my 20% or 40% PIN code for the value room only. Well the day is 11/27 which is a blackout date.
The VERY nice CM put me on hold to try and see if anything could be done or if there was any other discount he could apply. (I didn't even ask )

Alas, nothing, but he did say to me VERY CLEARLY his very words.... "discounts come out all the time. Wouldn't doubt something will come out for the blackout dates. Check back regularly"

Now I'm ok with paying the rate I got because it is still saving me money to pay full rate with the airfare for 11/27 than pay for the airfare for 11/28. (saved us $300!) I even told this to the nice CM before he "checked for any other dicounts". I was just SO happy with the airfare savings!

Maybe there is still hope for a discount for people who are traveling during the blackout times.

Well, with Disney, anything is possible. But, the blackout dates are blacked out because the resorts are full, or are expected to be full, during those dates, so Disney doesn't really have incentive to put out a discount for those dates.

I was also told to "keep checking the website" and told that some discount that covers the blackout dates is always possible. Oh well, we'll see.

I wouldn't hold out a LOT of hope. Quick estimate indicates 11/27 is the, what, Saturday after Thanksgiving? Chances are REALLY slim for a discount that night.

Actually 11/27 isn't blacked out for FD.I was surprised since in the past discounts don't usually start until the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

Of course I switched from the week after Thanksgiving to 11/3-11/10 never thinking those days would be blacked out.

Hopefully a discount will come out that will include your blackout date, but I wouldn't count on it. Our original plans for October included the Sunday before Columbus Day, but when we received the "White Rabbit" pin, I changed them because that day was blacked out. A nice CM said that Columbus Day isn't usually blacked out, and not to change our plans, but that date seems to be blacked out for both the Monster Pin and the White Rabbit pin, and at this point, I doubt that Columbus Day is suddenly going to be discounted. Anyway, the bottom line is that they don't always seem to have all the right answers, despite their good intentions.

I am hoping that a great discount will come out for you.
Disney is doing things a little different this year.
No one can predict what their next move might be. I was lucky enough to have our dates fall under FD this year.
If my dates had been on blackout days. I would be just like you, wishing, hoping, praying that a good deal is released. SOON!
Don't give up! I hope you will be pleasantly surprised.
