DD6 and I are going to WDW in late August - early September for 8 nights. I have room reservations only so far. I plan on adding at least a 4 day base ticket sometime before the trip (still not sure what our park itinerary will be, hoping for free dining, blah blah blah..). We are doing our volunteering in April. Can I use the free one day ticket to HOP if I wanted to (like if there was one night when we wanted to go to another park, but I don't want to add the hopper option on my base tickets in case we don't use it). Is this something we could do? I am guessing perhaps the answer is no, as won't they make you add the extra day to any exsisting park tickets you already have? Have I totally confused everyone??

You can use the GAD to gain admission to a second park.

It's a free day irregardless of any other tickets.

If you are buying more than 3 day passes I wouldn't use your GAD tickets. Go to undercovertourist and check prices, they are the cheapest out there. Last month you got 6 days for the price of 3 days. That would be cheaper than using your GAD. Instead you can get fast passes with your GAD tickets. Might be a better scenario for you when going for multiple days. The longer you stay the cheaper the tickets are. So once you buy 3 days adding another day is only a few more bucks.

But if she wants to be on DDP, she has to purchase at least a 1 day ticket with her reservation.

You cannot add the GAD ticket to another ticket you've purchased separately, but you can use it as a standalone 1 day base ticket to hop if you want to.

Not sure how cost effective that is - the GAD tix is worth $79 and you can only use it to hop once, while adding PH to your 4 day tix is $52 but gives you hopping ability for all 4 days.

Ah, good point as you cannot apply the GAD tix to a package. If you think you'll be returning for another trip at some point, you could buy just a 1 day ticket to satisfy the package requirement and hang onto that, then use your GAD ticket to upgrade to the number of days you need for this trip (and PH if you want). That way you get the full $79 value of the GAD tix and the 1 day tix don't expire.

But if you are already using a 4 day ticket...
and not planning on returning to WDW this year, and only want to hop 1 day... I think it is worth it.

If you go in a low season, the fastpass option is not really a super offer.

And although the hopper is only $52.00, if you are only going to use it once, it's $52.00 saved that day.
