Maybe she's born with it or maybe it's: The Make-Up Thread!

I am also a huge fan of makeup. I am 18 and my acne was never horrible, but it was never mild by any means. At one point I had tried every treatment through two dermatologists with no results in 6 years worth of visits. I found it mortifying, because no matter what makeup I used, that acne was still there. Some days were better then others, and some makeups work better then other's depending on the skin. I have very dry skin so sometimes even with moisturizers foundation or concealer could look bad. I went on accutane about a year ago and just finished my second time on it; My face is clear and I am so very happy about that. With that said the one foundation that I found that really worked miracles was Clinique. It was light weight, it covered a lot, ( Not everything, but I don't believe anything ever does ) I topped this with a loose powder that I still use now. It has a little bit of sparkle too it and gives you a glow. The look is very natural and if you don't apply to much it wont look cakey or anything like that like many other heavier foundations and powders can end up being. As far as MAC goes, every dermatologist has told me the same thing because at one point I was wearing all MAC for concealer, powder, blush, etc. I was told that MAC's products cause people to break out further. I'm not sure why this is or what factual evidence there is to support it. What I do know is when I started to wear it I DID break out worse then I already was so I returned it right away and turned to other products such as Clinique and Bobby Brown. I still do wear MAC lip glosses though... they are to adorable to give up ;)

Anyways Makeup I have:
Face: Clinique foundation, Clinique loose powder
Eyes: Clinique mascara
Lips: Clinique Air Kiss ( Somebody else mentioned this lip gloss and it is AMAZING), Macplink lipstick, Mac Morning Glory Lip gloss, and many others
Blush: Bobby Brown Rosebud or something like that...
I am so glad that medication worked for your skin! I would love to acne free, but I am to worried to try Proactive because I heard once you start you can't stop using it...

I have medium occuring acne.
I wear Mary Kay foundation. Light Ivory or something like that. I love it. It covers my face up pretty well without caking it on (It's a powder). The only downside is it kind of wears off throughout the day, like touching your face and sweating, and the elements.
I usually lasts me three months or so, and I don't know but I'm sure it's not too expensive. I used to wear eyeliner and mascara but I kind of decided to go with the less is more thing, though I look more tired.

Oh, also, this isn't make up but it is girl stuff. lol.
Sally Hansen fingernail polish is going onsale at Walgreens for 40% off. You buy three and you get $5 off coupon back. Three comes up to $5.50. So if you go in the next day and buy three more and use your $5 coupon and you pay $.50! Then you get another $5 coupon for buying those three. I'm pretty sure you can use the $5 off for the polish though I'll have to check on it. (:
I love nail polish! I just bought "Black Amethyst" from Petites, and it is so pretty!
for my face I use the Mary Kay Mineral Powder.
I love that stuff.
For my eyes i use the Eyelights mascara. (with the sparkles in it! :D)
that stuff is good.
Eyliner is whatever i happen to get at the store...i always make sure and get one with a smudger thing...i use those alot.
and for my eyshadow i use covergirl.
i get the white shimmery stuff and put it all the way around my eyes...it really brings out my eyecolor and it matches with everything! lol
I go for the "smokey eye" look...most of the time i'm pretty successful.
What is that shimmery white stuff lol ? :)
that's definitely true! i bought my studio finish concealer in december and it's still going to last me a few months!! and I use it almost daily! so it's definitely worth it if you ask me, $26 a year for a great quality concealer :thumbsup2
Wow, sounds like it last a long long time! Good news :)
I am also a make-up addict :cutie: I love buying and trying new things. I ususally only buy department store brands for my everyday makeup like foundation, lipgloss, and mascara, but for things I use less, like eyeshadow and liner, I use drug store brands.

Right now my faves are:
Foundation: Lise Watier Mineral Brush ( best foundation I've ever tried, its easy to use, doesnt break me out, gives me medium coverage, and doesnt look cakey or fake )
Foundation Primer: Rimmel
Concealer: Clinique
Finishing Powder: Almay ( I think the line is called PureMinerals or something like that)
Mascara: Clinique
Lip Gloss: Estee Lauder ( all of their lipglosses smell sooo good )
Eyeshadow: I really use any brand of eyeshadow that I like the colours of. Right now I love Rimmel. They have these blended compact things, that are about the size of the bottom of a glass, that I really like. They are a cream shadow and they go on really nicely and last all day. I also like their eyefuls. The give really nice color, but dont last as long as i'd like.
Eyeliner: eyeliner for me is really trial and error. I have some that I like, but none that I love.

Blabbing over now :goodvibes

Now what is the use of a primer, and finishing powder, so many people use them but are they any different than setting powder?

So glad there are makeup lovers out there like me, I just bought Dream Matte Mousse and concealer today at target for 15 bucks... OUCH. I had the powder in my shade, just the wrong shade foundation, I am like Edward Cullen pale XD

i dont own any high end things, i couldn't let myself buy something that expensive for something that small.
i'm super cheap.

i dont use any foundation or face make-up, i dont need/like it.

i've only recently started wearing lip gloss, it used to bother me being on my lips.

i wear mascara, eye-liner, and recently started wearing eye shadow.

eye shadows are my new obsession (:
i'm trying different colors & blending them together
they turn out pretty cool

So JEALOUS! I wish I could wear no foundation, I mean I could but then I would scare everyone :scared1:

I just bought a new Almay Eyeshadow kit too! Can't wait to try it out tomorrow for school :)

A lot of people have compared the Revlon Colorstay foundation to the Studio fix fluid. You could try that out first? The one down side I remember is that the Revlon one tends to set a lot faster so you have to work fast applying it. I remember a couple videos on YouTube comparing the two.

i love golds and browns the most .

and i'm starting to try other colors like blues, purples, etc.

My face was once pretty darn oily with some mild acne. At around 18 or so that went away so my routine changed.

Now, my face is the opposite. Very dry, all times of the year. I use a moisturizer 2x/day, morning and night. Then, I used a shimmery type base that just puts a little sparkle on the cheeks. I then use some mascara and some light colored lip gloss. Thats about it.

On date nights, or a nice event, I do put on eye shadow.

I <3 make-up, but I never wear any. I finally started getting into cover-up everyday so I don't look like such a zombie in the morning. I wear mascara (right now it's Rimmel something, but normally I use Sephora Atomic Lash - $10 a tube and it works fantastico. But my nearest Sephora is an hour away. :( ) when I can remember it. Anymore make-up and I'll look like a cake, honestly. I was blessed with great clear skin (if you go by terms of acne, oil, etc.) but I have a lot of dark freckles. I hate my freckles so much, especially the one on my left temple. I have very wide cheekbones, so even looking from straight ahead you can see the freckle. I think I may go for laser freckle removal one day.

I love this lady's tutorials. This is just a sample but she has a ton of them, and they're all really great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q_MFaEYados&feature=related

I would lovelovelovelovelove to get my makeup professionally done one day.

URGH.
I would love love love to wear makeup like eyeliner & stuff, but I've got biiig BIG blue eyes, and if I put on too much, well, I look like this  *but without the agape mouth :D*
I can't put on a lot of mascara either, because I have LONG eyelashes [I even have to put in my contacts a different way than most people do because I always blink when I try to do it the traditional way.], and if I emphasize on my eyeslashes too much, it does the exact same thing that eyeliner would do to my eyes []. So if I do put on eyeshadow, etc., I put on very nude colors.
I try to use a little bronzer because my skin is extremely pale, and I use some moisturizer, and cover-up because I've got big bags in the morning :/.
If anybody else has blue eyes and has any suggestions on stuff, let me know; I have no idea what else I can do because I love makeup, but I don't want to look scary :/ lol thanks :D

Primer is used to refine pores and help make your foundation more even. As far as I know ( I could be wrong ) finishing and setting powders are pretty much the same.

I dont know how Dream Matte Mousse will work for you, but I know for me it made me brak out, plus it looked cakey and fake, not to mention it was annoying to apply. I have the same problem with being extremely pale. My lise watier foundation that I have is the palest you can get, and it just matches my skin tone. When I got the dream matte mousse, it was just too orange. I looked at the paler stuff but it still didnt match at all. It was either too orange or way to dark.

I hope it works for you though.

I don't really wear make-up. I am like, addicted to aquaphor, though. If you haven't heard of it, its like this lip chap-vasilene stuff. I always have it with me. Its with me as we speak. But, it does make my lips shiny and healthy!:goodvibes
And I LOVE nail polish! (does that count as make-up? Same family i guess:confused3) I always have it on! I have a little black nail polish design pen, and right before I go to Disney, I'm gonna do my fingers red with black mickey heads, and my toes pink with minnie heads(same as mickey, but with a bow), or vise versa.

I have fairly clear skin so I hardly ever wear foundation. I wear cover up though on the occasional zit and I use cover girl. I wear very natural eye makeup almost daily and thats all rimmel. I use covergirl mascara though. Lip gloss i just use whatever.

I used it tonight for dinner, and it was a little annoying to apply, but it matches my skin tone almost perfectly (I got the lightest shade.) I hope it doesn't make me break out! But it does seem to help control shine as it is a fairly powdery make-up, so it absorbs it really good. So far I like it, only time will tell if I break out over it.! :scared1:

I love aquaphor too! It looks and feels so nice :) Also I am a huge nail polish gal, some people think it looks immature but I don't care. I am 17 and wear my nail polish proud ;)

Cover Girl concealers? Or foundations?

hmph. People really think wearing nail polish is immature? I love wearing dark, vampy colors like dark red, eggplant purple, and navy blue.

Yes, well one day I got a comment about my nail polish, and some girl was like "yeah that's cool if your 5."

I love dark nail polish too! I have Black Amethyst on right now, it is black and has purple shimmery stuff in it. Lol bad description I know. :rotfl:

My grandma, and my mom both wear nail polish. So does most girls at school? That's strange.

I've been wearing NYC's Canal Street for the past year. It's a dark purple/pink, and it's the only thing that I think looks cute with my skin tone. So everytime I redo it, I put the same kind on. lol.

They think nail polish is immature? :/?? What planet are they living on?
Most people I know LOOVE nail polish [and that includes me]
I have on this bright electric blue nail polish, and I've been getting compliments on it all day :) I <3 it. I forget the brand, though...it's my friend's. it's like this color: :littleangel: except a tad bit darker and it's shiny & pretty ahh i love it. lol

If nail polish is immature than call me a child! I love it!
I am wearing a darker purple shade right now :)
The only thing I don't like is how they chip... I always have to repaint them :p
