We are SO excited about our new DVC purchase, and our kids really want to have a little disney themed party. Has anyone done this?? Any suggestions?

What I'm thinking is we'll start off with some disney foods (PBJs, gummy worms, mickey shaped cake, veggies in cute shapes, etc.), and have some goody bags and games. Then we'll do a disney movie. This is for 4-7 year olds children, and some of our adult/parent friends, so it can't be too elaborate! But just something fun to celebrate and share some joy:)

Do you have a DVC DVD? I don't remember how we got one, but my DH plays it once it awhile. Maybe find pictures of the SSR pools, playgrounds and the DTD view. I wish I had taken the picture of all the bicycles sizes you can rent. It was the clincher for my DH seeing the small ones next to the big bicycles...just right for our god daughter. Or asking fellow DVCers to post pictures of the "wild life" around SSR. Great stuff for the little ones.

Oh and. . .

Welcome Home!!

I had a Disney Cruise "1 year to go party".

I made mickey pancakes for breakfast. Decorated the 1st floor in all beach decorations from a party store. Played disney and beach music at dinner time with pizza and drinks.

I would play some Disney Music as everyone arrives, maybe some short Disney movies. Make a Pin the Ears on Mickey game! Play the DVC DVD for the adults. Make easy disney trivia game (name 2 DVC resorts, name a character from this movie, etc).

Find some Disney themed party decorations (at a party store they usually at least have Mickey decorations. )

Have fun planning your party!!

I know the Disney Store (and I've seen them at Target) sells CDs with classic songs & remakes by current artists. Play some tunes, have some Disney movies playing in the background. Make some Mickey-shaped food (cakes, cookies, etc.) Have everyone wear something Disney related. Maybe some Disney trivia? I think they make a 'Scene It' Disney edition. Your party sounds like a fun idea!

Congratulations and :welcome:! Enjoy :goodvibes

Definitley have pictures or brochures of your home resort and maybe other ones you want to stay at, so your friends can see your new home away from home.

My local supermarket carries Disney food-Mickey shaped hamburgers, raviolis and frozen pizza.

You might want to soft pedal the "My DVC home" a bit, since those you invite will be wanting you to take them along!!;)

I wanted to let you know what we've ended up planning for our party this week:

First, Several of us are going to see the new disney earth movie... then the party is after.

We're splitting our house/yard into several sections. movies and mickey ears and popcorn will be in 'toon town'. Then we'll have a princess corner with face painting (and I got these giant cinderella disney stick ups for just a couple dollars!)... the playset (which already has a sign on it that is tinkerbell and peter pans tree house) will be decorated a bit more as the pirate section. We have a very large sandbox and that area of the yard will be the florida beach... which goes with our favors, and we'll have a pool (full of balls, it won't be warm enough for swimming), and a nemo pinata, and a little mermaid game (and a few other things out, hula hoops, frisbees!). My daughter is decorating her playhouse as the 'haunted mansion'. And then lots of food ofcourse, and I think on the way in, we have these pooh stick ups, we'll make it the hundred acre wood. The kids are dressing up for the party too...

Actually- almost all of those ideas were from my 5 year old DD!

For gifts, I went to the dollar store, and found: disney bucket/shovel, disney swimming ring, disney crayons, and disney frisbees, and disney workbook/coloring book. I was very happy with all of what I was able to find! Everything I bought was on a good sale, the nemo pinata was 5 bucks!

So far for food I've bought the smuckers PBJ's, prezels/popcorn/chips, nemo fruit snacks, fruit salad, popsicles... and I'm thinking I'll either do mickey cake or my daughter is requesting mickey shaped strawberry shortcake, so we'll see.

I think it's going to be a lot of fun! Oh- and one other thing, I bought these party signs you write in yourself- I bought two- one that says the disney party is here! But then another I will have say "welcome home"- only a couple people will get that, but I thought it would be too cute!

Thanks again for all of the ideas, there are so many good ones from that thread on disney family nights I'm looking forward to trying!

OMG do i have a link for you!!!! I found this here on the Disboards about a year ago and have had Disney themed days since!!

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1707141

Enjoy!! I've done a monsters inc, 101 dalmations, toy story, lady and the tramp, pirates, etc night!!!

OMG how have I never seen this link before?? We LUV to party and somehow try to incorporate Disney into every one we do. I will definitely mark this link as a favorite!! The family Christmas party is at our house this year, so I am looking forward to either "Nightmare" or "Night before Disney" possibilities.:hmghost:
