Maybe it's just me...

No seating = no excitement for me. I can't see myself standing with a 4-year-old and 7-year-old for this. What do we do with them once it starts? They won't be able to see!

Exactly how I feel except I have a 2 and 4 year old. Until they have seats to purchase like F! there is NO WAY we will be watching this show. :sad2:

I wasn't very excited about it either until I saw it Saturday night at a private preview. It was one of the most amazing shows I have seen at Disney - and I have seen a lot!

I agree Sue Kruse at MiceAge - there isn't a storyline but the water and light and music were fantastic! I don't know if I would have enjoyed it if I had to stake out a spot for hours to see it and compete with thousands of other people for a spot but it was a good show. That's my opinion and I'm sticking with it!!!

I'm not WOC-crazed, either. If I find out I can purchase regular seats (w/ a dinner pkg, or whatever), I will plan on doing it this fall. Otherwise, I'll pass. I'm kind of pleased that all the masses will be flooding that one area, so my family and I can enjoy the rest of the park w/ minimal crowds (I hope).

I am not excited about it either. We don't believe much in waiting for shows and fireworks anyway. If we happen to catch them great, if not, noone in my family will be upset.

But the no seating thing really clinched it. We are going with my 75 yo mother. She gets around pretty well for her age but standing while waiting, and then standing all through the show is just not going to happen. I'm interested in what people have to say about it just so I can figure out how best to work around it.

Well I am excited!!! :rotfl2: I am excited that I get to see it without having to drag my kids into it. (They will be at grandmas for the weekend) If I had to take them... then I would be nervous about it much more- as in trying to figure it all out... having to hear the whine and fuss about having to wait and having to go potty at all the wrong times, etc. But since it is just me and DH... that makes me excited! I can see this show and check it off my list. And once I see the F! I can check it off too. Not too many shows I like to watch everytime I go- except for the fireworks... that always gets me teary... especially during the Christmas time... Now that was awesome! Like the others who posted- I love getting on those great rides while others watch shows... but I do really want to watch WOC! I just hope it turns out to be as great as I hope it will be!

I can't understand how Disney can expect people to stand for hours then watch the show standing up. The only show I'd do that for is the Beatles and that isn't possible any more.

Exactly. And what about strollers? Will they be allowed in the viewing area or will you have to wake your sleeping child to see the show?

Well if you can stay in a Villa that has a view it was WONDERFUL and my family actually stood during the whole show and everyone was excited but if I had to sit in a crowd and wait, I probably wouldn't have the same feeling.

We sat in front of the castle for a firework show and then walked to Fantasmic the first night it opened 2 weeks ago and it was a madhouse. We sat on some steps and really couldn't see that well and I thought the show was too dark for my kids and ended up leaving. I would've much rather seen WOC, it was beautiful and had alot going on.

I caved... I bough the picnic lunboxes for our last night there. I read that strollers will be allowed in the viewing area, so I figure, why not? We have to eat anyway. If we decide it's too chaotic, we'll just not use our passes.

I was excited but Im not so sure anymore. The more previews I see for it the less excited I get. We'll probably do WCT for dinner and come back for the priority seating (standing). My mother has knee issues and cannot stand for any period of time so we will be using the WCT/GAP to make sure she has somewhere to sit during the show.

I'm finding that the more I hear and see about WoC, the less interested I am becoming in seeing it!:rotfl2:

I watched what I could manage of the live stream last night (my PC was slow so the feed kept locking up on me), and the show was everything I expected it to be. 'Beautiful' is too mild a word. Yes, I expected it to be exactly that spectacular. I knew if Disney was working so long and putting so much money into this show, and seemingly hanging their hats on WoC being the thing that starts to really pack in the crowds at DCA, that this show was going to be something really 'big.' Way bigger than Fantasmic. So it looked pretty much like I thought it would, and I know it will look even more stunning in person. I'm sure the water appears to be 10 stories tall. I'm sure the colors can probably seen in areas outside of the park. I'm sure the mood and atmosphere while the show is happening are infectious.

Also, I like the idea that they can swap out the current colors and theme of WoC to a holiday theme in the future - that will be cool. I even love the 'color touches' that have been added around DCA - new, vibrant flowers in the Paradise Park area, new colorful California letters at the entrance to DCA, new splashes of color in the Hollywood Backlot area. I like all of that - in fact, I think DCA actually needed some extra color added to it to liven it up a bit. And now it's got color coming out the wazoo!!:rotfl2:

But I am on World of Color overload now. I wasn't that gung ho to see it in the first place, simply because I'm not a 'show person.' Today, however, everything is about World of Color - either here on the DIS or on TV (I'm in L.A., so all of the local news channels have been doing features on the media preview of WoC last night). It's World of Color domination! I feel saturated in it. I think, once all the massive hype dies down and things quiet down about World of Color, I will be more interested in seeing it again, if that makes any sense. Honestly, I don't remember this much buzz about the last few new rides at DLR - there was not this much talk about Toy Story Midway Mania or the Nemo Subs, as I recall. World of Color seems to have trumped all the rides in terms of coverage and discussion!

I will join the group here. I am going to watch the stream. I just do not see why the hubub.

Jack

Having seen it in person and seen the stream, please do not base anything on the stream. I kept saying to my husband, "Wow! It REALLY doesn't translate to video at ALL!" You do not get any sense of the medium, which is part of what makes it so good. As I watched the stream, there was NOTHING that conveyed the same feeling I had watching HUGE fountains of water interacting with light, color, and imagery in person. The stream does it a complete injustice.

You stand to watch fireworks, no? The kids will be able to see. The tiers help with that, as well as the GIANT size of the water screens / fountains.

Disney is not going to design family entertainment and leave the kids out. They will be able to see, especially if you take a spot near the front of your section.

It's a 26 minute show. Again, you stand to watch fireworks, no? I am sure most have stood in a line for 26 minutes. I guess it just doesn't seem that unreasonable to me.

It's a good show! Creative. Moving. Different.

Same here!

I've been to DLR dozens of times and have never seen Fantasmic, the ELP, or any of the fireworks. I'd like to sometime, but it just hasn't been worked out any of the times I've been when they are actually showing, and it's not a huge priority for me.

I'm sure if I was going to be there for a week and wouldn't be going back for a very long time, I would make a point of seeing the shows. But I'd still prefer to put the emphasis on rides during my visit! :)

Just like you Monkey Monkey. I have watched Fantasmic just one time about 12 years ago, but have never had the guts to stake out a spot and take time away from the attractions. WOC makes me feel kind of nervous and I feel ok about waiting until the mad rush dies down a little. ;)

I think that's it. I don't want to take time out from the attractions to wait standing up. The 26 minute show, no problem standing for that. How long do I have to stand while waiting for the show to start. That is the problem. I envision being squished together with a bunch of people shoving and jostling.

I'm excited just not that excited..I'd be more happy if they had sitting..My little ones are not going to stand still for any length of time..If I was going alone then I'd be more excited to see WOC..maybe one of these days when DH and I can actually sneak away..lol..Like that would happen..

I'm relieved I'm not the only one :rotfl: I've been keeping it in and it's been awfully stressful. I didn't like Fantasmic (at MGM/HS) because to me it was like, "yep, they can project images onto water." So I just don't get the novelty of it. I can appreciate it for the imagineering marvel it is, but I have zero interest to see it.

I'm willing to stroll in at the last minute and get whatever spot we can. I won't be standing for hours. No way.
