Just went to MK last month and one think that stuck me was POC. Don't get me wrong I love the ride, but don't you think its time for an update on it? It seems to take up a fairly good chunk of real estate and when we went I think more that 50% of the waiting line wasn't in use due to lack of people. What would you like to see done with POC?
Myself I would like some interaction either Buzz Lightyear style or maybe live interaction like the Great Movie Ride. Either way I would love to get splashed of few times on it. Not soaked mind you, but cannonballs exploding next to you, that kind of thing. When we went on it, it seemed there was a part when the pirates attack the walled city, where a whole section in the back wasn't lit up or working, has anyone else noticed that?

I agree it is a Classic and what I would like to see is an overhaul to Keep it a classic. What do the Paris and Disneyland POC have that make them bigger and special?

the kabuki - I just read the thread that you referred to in your post. I had never seen it before. I am a fan of keeping the old rides the way they are. Instead of putting a figure of Jack Sparrow in the ride, I think he (Johnny Depp) could ride in the boat with you - for an extra charge of course. I'd be willing to pay it.

Woooo Hoooo! I'm all for that! And we're sitting here watching Mr. Depp as Jack Sparrow right now! pirate:

Once, when we were riding this ride late at night, one of the cannonballs did 'land' at just the right moment so that the splash hit someone in the face right next to me!

Beware!!!!! Ride Spoilers ahead!!!

Dead men tell no tales!!!!

Paris has two drops, and the animatonics are better, plus there are more scenes. Some of the scenes are the same, but many are different. It sort of tells a story more than the one at WDW. At the end, there is a skeleton pirate drinking wine - and the wine runs right through him. The pre-ride set is quite different too. But the coolest thing that the Paris ride has, is a restaurant inside the ride -a la the restaurant inside the Mexican pavillion in Epcot. Isn't that a cool theme for a restaurant? We just had to eat there once we saw it. It was very cool.
Overall, Disney Paris is no WDW, but the short lines, seeing the attraction ride names in French (Auberge de Cendrillon - inn of Cinderella - was one of my favorites), and POTC alone make it a very worthwhile visit.

Amen to that! :wizard: :rotfl2: :lovestruc

There is a restaurant inside the DL version of POTC. WDW could use the extra drops.

POC is a classic and other than regular cleaning and maintenance, IT SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE. For goodness sake, leave some of the original Classics that Walt had his hand in. Just my humble opinion.

Me again. I would, however, be in favor of the Johnny Depp riding in the boat.

Both DL and DLP have restaurants inside.

The original PoC at DL has something which Disney was known to proudly flaunt: A ride up the waterfall. If you get the PoC ride CD, he describes the plans to build the ride and seems so happy that you leave the ride by going up the waterfall (to counter the drop down the waterfall). The building is nicer IMHO and the line is mostly outside. You board almost opposite the restaurant, and the start is more like being on the bayou than the pirate wasteland that you see at WDW. There's a cabin with grandpa in a rocking chair and "fireflies" around you here.

It's been a while since I last rode the ride in Paris. The restaurant looked more Old Port Royale-style than the Bayou restaurant at DL. I seem to remember the ride going outside - or close to outside kind of like the Maelstrom at EPCOT - and behind a waterfall, which was scenic if nothing else.

No matter where I've ridden the ride, I've loved it. I'll be happy whether or not they decide to update the ride. Part of me wouldn't mind something fresh, but on the other side, it would be nice not to see commercial success force a change to this classic.

I also agree it should be left as is. We need original Walt attractions. Even if it isn't my favorite ride, the fact that this was one of Walt's original ideas makes it feel like a true classic.

Create new attractions? all for it, but don't mess with the classics.

That leads to an intersting problem, if you read the thread/article about Disney slowing down with their building (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=814006), it would suggest a bunch of refurbishings instead of new buildings.

I wouldn't mind some changes, nothing drastic. I wish it would follow the storyline a little better. It is supposed to be that they steal cursed treasure, but you never see them getting it, and at the end, they get the last laugh. I would like to see them get the treasure, and then them getting caught at the end as it does in DL POTC.

I enjoy the ride the way it is, but I DO favor adding Johnny Depp to the boats. Nothing wrong with that. pirate: ;)

I am from CA and go to Disneyland at least once a year. Up until my first trip to WDW in 02 I had never been to any other disney parks. I have never been to Paris Disney or Tokyo so I don't know how those are but from being at DL and DW I prefer the DL version.

It seems longer, has more drops and I LOVE the whole New Orleans square area and the Blue Bayou (that is the restaurant). My family and I have eaten there many times and it is our FAV restaurant. It is pricey and the food is not the greatest but you can't beat the atmosphere!

I too am one that likes to keep the rides classic. I am all for getting "new" rides but I like the classics to stay as they are. I guess like myself I am getting old and like to reminisce! :)

I keep seeing everyone saying to leave it as is because that's how Walt wanted it but, Walt oversaw the building of the one in DL but, not the one in WDW. Therefore, I have no problem with making the changes to WDW POTC to bring it up to par with DL POTC. Adding another drop a resturaunt with a view of the ride and an upwards waterfall at the end doesn't seem like anykind of defacing to me. Also making an already existing animatrionic look like Captain Jack Sparrow is not disrespectful in my book either. :wave2:
