Maybe I'm Getting Old- Where are the Quiet DVC Resorts?

Don't take a Disney Cruise! That was just unreal, kids running down the halls at all hours. Once, I finally did open the door and grab a few.:lmao: Parents just don't think to tell their children how to behave, because It's Disney!!!

Now you tell me....:headache: found this out on our Wonder cruise last May.

Nothing can be quieter than the Tree House Villas.
Sadly, I disagree. We stayed 7 nights at THV last month. Two evenings I stayed in by myself to host distance learning events (work). I found the THV unit, by itself, to be very noisy. The heating/air system was the worst offender -- but there were other buzzing, beeping, clicking and clacking sounds coming from the pedestal below.

I've run similar events from BWV and will do so again later this week. I don't find the BWV unit to be as noisy as THV.

Last year at BCV, the room we had was VERY quiet. Note I'm not saying that BCV is always quiet-the room I had a few months ago was in a location with doors slamming and people walking down the hall shouting often. However, I asked for a quiet area, got the "jog" and even DH, who's usually such a light sleeper he drives me crazy ("You mean, THAT woke you?"), commented on how quiet it was. The jog I'm referring to is about 1/2 way down the hall to the right after you get off the elevator. Take a right by the ice machines and voila! It's between rm 333 and 353.

Love OKW because it is so quiet.... a different experience all-in-all at each resort but I find OKW the most relaxing.

Any of the resorts where you're all the way down the hall will be quieter than in a more convenient location with all the foot traffic: VWL, BWV, and of course the Kidani AKV come to mind.

Age may indeed play a factor - as we get older we may need to be "close to the elevators" with joint issues (I hope not) but life has a way of balancing things out - along with age comes hearing loss, so those halls seem to be a little quieter  If you're hearing noise then you're not old enough for the location you're in :)

Just got back from VWL stayed on the fifth floor room 5553 second from last facing the lake. It was sooo quiet. I think in 5 days we saw two people in the hall. It was a long walk and all of us thought of the movie the shining when you turned the cornor to walk down the hall. It was a little spooky at times because we never saw anyone. We did love the location. From our balcony there was a break in the trees and we could see most of the ELP from our balcony at nite. It was quiet. We were in a 2 bedroom dedicated.

In October DH and I stayed at AKV at Jambo and thought it was quiet most of the time but we did hear kids running at times. As long as noise stops by 11:30 I'm OK.

We also have stayed at OKW many times and always find that to be quiet even though we mostly stay near HH. I never am bothered by bus noise or people and I am a lite sleeper.

I think it all comes down to your neighbors. We have been very lucky. Our visits have been very quiet. It often feels like we are the only ones there when we are walking down the halls at BWV.

Many of the owners at OKW are original DVC members when there wasn't a choice of resorts - just OKW. It's been open for 18 (18, really???) years so far, so it is sometimes known as the OKW Retirement Village. It's my home and I love it.

Haha! I bought in 16 years ago when it was the only DVC, and as it has aged, so have I! I am here right now and am enjoying the QUIET. I stay here each year during this time just for the peace. Other times of year, like Food and Wine, I stay at BWV. I also own/stay at SSR, and even though it's big and spread out like OKW, it is still not as peaceful. I am in building 21, first floor, on the golf course, and it has been wonderful. I can hear a little bus noise, but otherwise it's been very quiet.

Ok, I can hear OKW calling me.......:cloud9:

At night, they are all quiet to me. I'm deaf in one ear and when I sleep with the bad ear up I hear nothing! :woohoo:

Goofy Bingo in the OKW COmmunity Hall isn't exactly for the young (except maybe real young). I love it!

We joked that OKW was like a retirement village. :) it was sooooo quiet.

SSR... Every time I stay there it's like I forget that there are others around enjoying the same peace I am unless I'm on the balcony or step out of the room for some reason... Quiet, cozy, peaceful and <sigh> home:)

At Jambo House, I often find a rocking chair at one of the places to view the animals along the halls. I enjoy the view, and some quiet time with a book. I'm not saying that no one ever comes, but people don't tend to stay, and I'm most often by myself.

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. I woke up this morning, with my eyes opened wide realizing that the grammar school reunion that is being planned is my 50th!!!

This sounds great! I'm going to give this a try over my first ever AKV weekend getaway in August! Thanks..:hippie:

We just got back from our first trip to SSR and stayed in Congress Park overlooking the lake to DTD. It was so peaceful & quiet...I loved it! We have also had peaceful stays at VWL overlooking the villas pool and also at BCV. Our only noisy trip was to BWV and that was only because of some noisy neighbors who thought they owned the place and yelled/ran up & down the hallway at all hours of the day and night.:sad2:

We find SSR to be quiet; more so than the Boardwalk. But we love 'em both!!
