****************************************************

I have been a Wamu customer for years, and a very happy one at that. But all good things must come to an end, and as of Monday all our Wamu branches became Chase branches. All the people at Wamu have always been SO nice, and I have heard that Chase is legendary in their total suckiness in the area of customer service.

I went to deposit my paycheck yesterday at my new Chase branch. The people working there were preternaturally friendly. WAY friendly, and directed me to a teller. She cheerfully processed my deposit, then asked me if I was familiar with the Chase Rewards debit card. I said no, and she had an account manager come over to talk to me. He told me about the basic program, then uttered those magical words: "Are you a Disney fan at all? Because you'll be able to order a new Disney Rewards debit card come August 11th."

*blink blink*

I wasn't even in my usual Disney-fied garb, so they couldn't have known the object of my obsession. It was like that T-Mobile commercial when Catherine Zeta-Jones asks that stunned guy if he has time for a mobile makeover. "I believe I do." LOL

All I use is my debit card. I don't have credit cards anymore, and I pretty much never have cash. So now I'll get to pay bills and buy groceries, but earn Disney reward points at the same time. Love it!

And I really was very happily surprised at the level of service at Chase. Guess I'll stick with them a little while and give them a chance. :)

I looooove Chase. :)

I worked for a different bank and still kept all our accounts at Chase! :rotfl:

So they are gong to start awarding Disney reward points with a debit card? Not just credit? Heck if that's the case I'll switch to Chase for that. I use my debit card for everything.
With how many people that use debit cards for everything It's hard to see how its feasible on Chases' end though.

Off to see if I can fins anything online about it.

I believe it will probably work the same way their current Leisure Rewards card works.

You HAVE to sign for the purchase. If you sign for it, I think, it works like a "credit" instead of a debit and while it doesn't change how it comes out of your account, it changes how much Chase gets paid from the vendor you are buying from. If Chase is giving you $1 Disney Rewards for every $200 spent [which I believe is what it is going to be] then they're still making a 2.5% profit from the company you bought from.

I think. Don't hold me to that. :flower3:

*eta* Oh, and I THINK it'll be a fee-based Debit Card. Probably $25 like the Leisure Rewards.

I went and compared it to the Leisure Reward card. There is a $25 annual fee. I also read that you do have to use it as credit, no Pin transactions. It's also valid for online pay, which is great because I pay all my bills that way.
There's no Chase around me here but there are where we are suppose to be moving to in FL. May have to look into it when I get there.

Oh don't talk to my sister. She went to deposit her check on Thursday. She got the letter from Chase stating that now it would take 24 hours for an instate check to clear.
Well SURPRISE! Her account was opened in California and now she is in ny. The California branches did not change over yet- so still wamu- so THEY had to clear the check. And how did they chose to do it? Snail mail. so it'll take at least 5 days for the check to clear. as it will now also be out of state- (it's a ny paycheck)

She was flipping out. Rent had to be paid today. blah blah blah. so She is not a fan.

Bank of America was doing that to us too so we switched over to the bank where the paycheck was drawn on. Holding a paycheck for 5 days is ridiculous.

I updated the first post. :)

I have both the Disney Visa and a Chase Rewards Debit Card. The points on the Disney card accumulate way to slow for my liking while the Leisure Rewards Card smokes. You get 4 points for every dollar you spend. Yes you do pay a $25 a year fee but you recoop that pretty fast. I signed up my Debit card in December of last year and have gotten $75 worth of Visa Cash cards, $50 Chili's gift card, and have enough points currently to get a $100 Visa cash card or a $100 Home Depot card. That's $225 worth of rewards in nine months. Even given that I still have not signed up my wifes card (from the same account) but should because the points would really start piling up. You do have to use it as a credit card when you buy things but that's no big deal. I think even though I love the idea of a Disney reward card if you can accumulate rewards faster then the Debit Card is the way to go.

I'm in Southern California and our branches changed over months ago, my debit card has been a Chase card since March.

I think I'm going to go with the Disney rewards card!
