So I'm getting closer and closer to my dream of being a Florida Resident!!!!

Can anyone clue me in as what all the benefits are with the tickets? Can people go with you, do they get those rates, and how many or is there a limit? How about staying on property?

My family thinks its silly, but they only live 30 min or less from the state border, and if we move back to where they are (close to the gulf where we used to live), I REALLY want to live right on the state line so I can finally have FL Resident status and officially SAY I moved to Florida! (And not just a pretty beach on the panhandle gulf coast right next to the Florida border.) They asked me, how much is the discount anyway? I think its pretty substantial! I remember seeing a promotion for 3 base days for $120, and then there is the option of AP too.

I'm going to pray REALLY hard and hope the job offer comes through. Anyone want to buy a nice updated 4 bed 2.5 bath on 3 acres at the end of a subdivision with great schools in western KY? :hyper:

Unfortunately, if you bring guests, they have to be FL residents to get the FL resident rate.

Interesting.

SUCKERS! Maybe they should 'switch sides' too! :rotfl: Can they 'live with me' if I put a bill in their name, and then they have a utility bill to match with their ID?

On the DCL forum, if at least one of us is FLR, everyone in the room will get those rates.

Did it always used to be that they couldn't bring any guests with them?

They would have to have photo ID with a FL residence/address (most likely a drivers license) and various other things to qualify for a FL resident discount Not sure what you are asking as far as how many guests you can bring ? Are you asking as a future castmember and those free guests when you refer to living the dream ?

We were full time FL residents just north of Disney for 5+ years. We bought annual passes at AAA -- at that time there was a small discount because we were AAA members, but it was enough to make it less than other sources. I think that has changed. And we got the FL resident rate when we bought the AP. However, we had to show picture I.D. even at AAA.
We used the FL resident discount for room rates, and it was usually very close in amount to the AP passholder discount rate.
You can't take people into the park on your pass -- no matter what kind it is unless you are a cast member. You have a ticket, they have a ticket, etc. I don't know about DVC room rates. That's a whole 'nother story.
Someone who deals with DVC reservations could tell you a lot more.
It's not as easy to "become" a FL resident and get the perks as it used to be. There are various ways to be eligible, but they all include proof of residency. Not sure about college students. Someone else can probably tell you.

There's no difference between DVC members who are Florida residents and those that are not, as far as "paying" for rooms.

On a regular reservation with a Florida resident discount you can have anyone you want in the room with you, but you must be the lead guest and provide Florida resident identification. Same with DCL I think.

You can't buy Florida resident park passes for anyone who isn't a Florida resident.

You show ID and another proof of residence......then you get a FL resident pass, for you. You can get into the park with your pass, others with you need their own pass. If they are FL residents, they can prove they are and then get their own resident pass. You can book a room with FL resident rates, if it is offered. Then, you can have people in the room with you!
Sure would be nice if FL residents got to bring in friends with them, or were able to put a bill in someone else's name in order to enable them to get a resident pass...my son lives in Tampa, my step-sister and step-mother are both Florida residents. My brother-in-law and his wife are residents. I hold an AP, but it sure isn't a Florida residents AP. no way to get one without the proper documentation.

Florida Residents save about $160 on a pass.....or if you won't be visiting basically in the summer and holidays, the Seasonal saves a lot more. Another 'big' benefit for residents is the monthly payment plan (no extra savings but easier on the budget)

Florida Premium (includes water parks, Quest, etc) $644.33

Florida Resident Seasonal Pass (The following blockout dates apply to the Seasonal Pass: June 9 – August 14, 2014; December 18, 2014 – January 2, 2015; March 28 – April 10, 2015; June 6 – August 13, 2015.) $339.74
