Would I expect D.C. to be more crowded on Election Day, or would it pretty much be like any other weekday? I mean, do political people flock to the Capital for that, or are they at home watching results on tv? The reason I ask, is that the kids have off from school that week and my dh says I would be crazy to go to D.C. around Election Day. Is he right?

I never noticed it being any different that day. I lived there through several presidentials, the big crowds will be at the nominees HQs. I hope that everyone would go out and vote that day, but as far as flocking to the Capital, no, I don't remember that ever happening. If it is an election year for the senate, house and the President, then most all candidates will be at home with their constiuents. I imagine that Mr. Bush and Mr Kerry will have people in DC, but they will be at the chosen hotel, as per usual. I wouldn't wory about taking the kids into town that week, it won't be any worse than any other non summer or tradtional school break week. If anything, it could be pretty quiet.
