There were codes last year that came out late Aug and late September.
We may go in December so I was looking.

However, if the online booking is accurate, there are almost no rooms for when we are going at AKL.

....Well, HELLO, fellow Kim ...I was just so bummed that I wasn't going to 'do' anything this summer...hadn't even given a THOUGHT about visiting WDW in the near future (although, I thought that MAYBE we could go during that "NJ Teachers' Convention" 4-day weekend ). Anyhoo, when I got that email from Disney Visa, I just decided to call, figuring it was TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.....well, lo and behold, I got a GREAT PRICE at a GREAT RESORT!! Holy moley, but HOW do I tell my DH?? (he was in upstate NY at the time... ) When I did finally tell him on Monday morning (always gotta "hit 'em" when they're in a good mood!) he was so receptive to the idea - namely, because in the summer we are very flexible on the dates, and, becuase we already have over $1,300 in Disney points!! Now, I am gettin' mah 'Disney jiuces' flowing, thinking WOW! With a dining plan included, I could actually order stuff that I would not normally order when vacationing (being the budgeteer [did I just make up a new word??] that I am) and not have to worry about meals. NOW, he has decided that he doesn't want to go during the warmer months (can't really blame him, since he IS in construction!) when football season also begins (Uhhh, did I mention that he ALSO coaches in our community peewee football program??). Now, don't get me worng - Christmas at WDW is WONDERFUL (BEEN there, DONE that...)but it was so gawrsh, darn COLD last time we visited, that I vowed we would NEVER do that again.....

I want to book now to start making the payments, but we also want to save money with the codes.
The codes are also good with the dinning plan?

Yes, changes can be made when the codes come out depending on availability at your resort for those times. It is best to get a booking then change it when codes come out then wait and get nothing...Just my opinion, but it is so much easier to call and apply the code than just pray you get a room by the time the codes come out. so, you are headed in the right direction with booking it sooner rather than later and then applying discounts when they roll out.
