Maya's Grill And Pepper Market Changing at Coronado Springs Resort 12/04/2011

I believe its because the Maya Grill is changing but not the Pepper Market. The Maya Grill facebook page states a menu change is coming.

My memory, not 100% sure, is CRT changed to 2 credits in the middle of the year.

The DDP brochure says restaurants are subject to change.

I'm also surprised about the 12/4 date. Could the restaurant be trying to negotiate better terms with Disney for the DDP in 2012?

But CRT is run by WDW and isn't subject to a contract involving an outside vendor. LeCellier made its switch to signature status in March, but again it is run by WDW.

I agree 1/1 is a more logical date. I don't know if Disney can sell a contract which gives Disney the right to change restaurant status but deprives outside restaurants of that right.

Disney may approve of the change. Adding a new TS restaurant during the busy holiday season may be considered a big plus.

edited to add
The more I think about it the more I suspect this (if true) is a Disney supported decision to increase TS capacity during the holiday season. Waiting until 1/1 would otherwise make a lot of sense. Disney has sold, and given away, a lot of dining packages. You can't have guests arrive at WDW without reservations and say sorry. Disney now has a restaurant to offer those guests.

Well, it happened. Buzz posted on his site that the change will happen on 12/4.
Who is Buzz and what is his site? (I wanted to do something more exciting for my 1,000th post, but this is important, doggone it!)

Huge bummer. CSR is way less appealing now.

According to Buzz's wording, it sounds like PM will be a buffet for breakfast & lunch, but will remain the same (a CS) for dinner? And the only changes to Maya Grill are a new menu and only open for dinner.

If PM is at least a CS still for dinner I don't really care, but if they will be considered a TS for all meals I will have to redo my entire 7-night dining plan/ADRs as I have plans to use CS credits there.

It should be noted that at this time there is no official confirmation of this change.

Yes, Le Cellier changed credit counts for dinner in March 2011, but it was announced well in advance. Le Cellier is operated by Disney.

As everything with WDW is, though, the dining plan is subject to change without notice.

The new change is posted on both Pepper Market and Maya Grill's Facebook pages.

Interesting! We are on the deluxe plan, so it doesn't really affect us during our stay, but would for future stays if we don't upgrade. Thanks for the heads up!

My DH loves the Pepper Mill. I'm going to wait until I get more information before telling him about the PM changing to a buffet.

Next up, I wonder how much the breakfast buffet will be?

When we stayed at CSR we prefered Cafe Rix to PM. It was quicker & the food was hot & fresh. Seating was not really there but you could go outside to some tables.

They will Have Quick foods at there Newer Bakery/store that will count as a CS point. Pepper MArket will Change to a TS Restaurant doing a Full Buffet All day 3 meals. Maya Grill will be only open for Dinner only as a signature Restaurant also a TS . Remember Disney does NOT own these restaurants at Coronado Springs, Palmas Services does. They also Own the Food and Beverage areas of Mexico Epcot.
According to Buzz's site, looks like the buffet will only be breakfast and lunch with dinner remaining to be the same concept as is currently being done. Breakfast & Lunch Buffet will be a counter service credit redemption and NOT a table service credit redemption.

Buzz's site doesn't, as of a minute ago, say the buffet will only require a CS credit.

It's possible that will be the case, until the end of the year. Avoid having to explain why Pepper Market no longer accepts a CS credit for breakfast and lunch.

So... does this mean CSR won't have a CS option available during breakfast and dinner?

(Or is Cafe Rix a CS?)

Just curious.

We were booked for CSR for a January trip but changed to WL. I've always liked the look of CSR though and would have liked to stay there at some point. But not without a CS option!

Main thing is that it appears to be a test run only for 1 month then back to normal food court I assume, unless perhaps crowds are way up. Also note that the buffet is considered a CS, not a TS.

Coronado Springs Resort Pepper Market and Maya Grill Test
December 4, 2011- January 4, 2012

From time to time, we evaluate our operation and occasionally make adjustments to meet the changing needs of our Guests. As part of that effort, the Pepper Market and Maya Grill dining locations at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be testing some adjustments to their operations from December 4, 2011 through January 4, 2012.
The Pepper Market will transition to a true buffet style experience for breakfast and lunch beginning Dec. 4. In addition, the Maya Grill will no longer be open for breakfast; as Guests will be able to enjoy the array of breakfast offerings at the Pepper Market buffet beginning Dec. 4.There is
no pricing change for Maya Grill.

The pricing for Pepper Market will be the following:

BREAKFAST:
$14.99 for adults;
$8.99 for children;

LUNCH:
$16.99 for adults;
$9.99 for children;

Pepper Market will continue to honor the Disney Dining Plan Quick-service Restaurant meal entitlement for all three meal periods (breakfast, lunch and dinner). The automatic service charge will be eliminated and an “optional tip” line will be added to the receipts (there will still be a service charge for dinner).

I hope some of our DisFriends that go during this time will report back on how they liked it. I would love to hear about it prior to my trip since I plan on visiting PM.

I think I will go during lunch to try the buffet and at dinner too just to compare since I have never been before.

My trip isn't until 12/16 but I will report back whenr we get back after Christmas:thumbsup2

That's great to hear! Thinking of trying them for breakfast. Got a ressie at Prime Time that night! :dance3:

Even if the food is great, the new set-up would not work well for us. On the DDP, DH might use a CS credit for a full breakfast while I use a snack credit or pay oop because I only want a small pastry and am using my mug for my beverage, but we want to sit together to eat. Pepper Market being solely buffet eliminates that option.

It might be more attractive to guests who are there for a meeting (if the meeting does not already include breakfast) because attendees are often on an expense account for meals, and non-WDW hotels pretty much all include breakfast nowadays. But I bet in the end they'd lose more Park guests at breakfasttime.
