Mayan Cocao Company in Cozumel?

Has anyone gone there? How did you like it? Did you go on your own or on an excursion? It looks fun on their website and I love chocolate. But the the DLC excursions that offer it also make you take a tour of the island, which I have done before and am not interested in doing again. It doesn't look too far from the port. Just wondering if it's worth trying to get there on your own. Thanks in advance for your help.

we did the KaoKao chocolate factory tour. it isnt really a factory-- it is more of a small converted house. My kids loved it. they got to grind the beans and make their own hot cocoa disks. it is a nice short excursion. not crowded or overly tiring. we just took a taxi from the port. the lady at the factory told the driver what time to come back for us. we went back to the ship afterwards and enjoyed the empty ship.

Oh, I didn't realize they had two chocolate places in Cozumel. Do you mind me asking how much and how long the taxi ride was?

i think it was about $15 or $20 per person. it is a small house. you get to grind the beans and make a chocolate disc to take home to make hot chocolate. then there is a small room with artifacts and a video about the history of chocolate. then u go to the gift shop and u can taste different chocolates. it is a relaxed activity and lasts about an hour or so. i dont remember how much the taxi was, but it wasnt very much. its a good activity if u want to do other things since it doesnt take too long.
