Written on Friday, May 9th. Just took a half day off from work and I am celebrating the start of vacation with a cold Heineken.
Sarah is just finishing up her first successful ( and expensive ) year of college at the University of Pennsylvania. She also needed a new used car ( oxymoron!) to get to her summer classes and her summer job. She totalled her first car last summer, luckily no injuries. So, what to do with the two weeks between the end of regular classes and the start of summer classes when money is a little tight?? I know, let's go to DISNEY WORLD !!!!!!!
Since we'll be driving this time, Sarah has requested a stop over in Williamsburg,VA. It's about a 5 or 6 hour drive from home so we'll leave early ( like 5am, early ) and spend the afternoon of the 11th there. We'll spend the night at the Williamsburg Lodge and part of the next day in the historic area before we continue on. We have a dinner reservations at the Christiana Campbell Tavern. We ate there on our last visit after we had been on the ghost tour. We didn't get there till about 10pm and the place was nearly deserted and lit only by candlelight, a little eerie and very cool. Good food also.
We'll spend the rest of the day ( the 12th ) driving as far as we can get. Hope to make the Florida border at least. No reservation for that night so we'll stop at whatever looks decent.
Next day,the 13th, we check-in at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal. We stayed at Portofino last trip and really liked it. Hope RPR is as nice.Sarah and I love IOA especially Hulk. Marie on the other hand would probably pass out and / or pee herself. She does enjoy the Studio side however. We have dinner reservations for Emeril's on CityWalk and also his new place in the resort.
On the morning of the 16th, it's on to the Polynesian for three nights, followed by four nights at the BoardWalk Inn. Sarah is our acting tour director and has been planning out our park schedule and meal reservations. So far dinners include Chefs de France, Ohana, California Grill, Palio and Mama Melrose / Fantasmic. The girls also have some spa time scheduled. It should be a great trip. I'll be back with day by day details upon our return.
