May Weight Loss Challenge - Getting Ready for Summer!

Time to get in better shape for summer so that we can enjoy all the summer fun. Many of you have been taking each month just one step at a time and breaking down your weight loss goal into a much smaller more manageable, so time to do it again!

Feel free to encourage others on this thread and to share what is working for you to take off the weight. If you stumble, feel free to share your frustrations. If we all support each other, we will see big losses by month's end.

On this thread I will track your weight loss goals for April along with your actual losses. Just post your goal (the total you would like to lose in April) in your original post, then as you lose weight come back here and report the amount you have lost. Each Wednesday, I will update this original post to reflect everyone's losses, so that you can see the progress we are making together!

As you lose weight, your name will be color coded accordingly.
0 - 2.5 lbs in Royal Blue
2.6 - 5 lbs in Orange
5.1 - 7.5 lbs in Magenta
7.6 - 10 lbs in Purple
Over 10 lbs in SeaGreen

So time to get out there and start losing, one pound at a time! Let's see how much we can lose as a team.

I am going for 10 lbs again this month. The last couple haven't been large losses for me, but with the extra activity that I have been doing lately and plan to keep up, I am hoping to make that goal this month.
 
I just wrote down a goal last night and tried to break it down to accomplish it.

Sign me up for 10 lbs this month. Tough, but hopefully with the average over the 4 weeks I can do this. That's only 2.5 pounds a week.
 

So far I have lost 6 pounds on weight watchers which puts me at 175, set my goal at ten this month (even though I would be very happy with 5).
 
Put me down for 3 lbs. this month. I re-vamped my food...adding more vegies, fruit and protein and cutting out some dairy and snacks and finally got a weight loss. I think I'm on track. I also added add'l reps of crunches, squats and reverse crunches. If I can lose 3 more lbs. I will hit my "Mickey" goal and just need to maintain and tone for our Oct. vacation. Can I join in too? I would like to lose 6 lbs.........if I could do that by the end of May I would be thrilled!:yay:

I would love to join in, we have a trip with Mickey planned for August and I dont fit into any of my short from last year UGGG. I would like to go for 10lbs this month also that would put me back at my heaviest I have been.. well till now that is LOL
 
Sign me up, Scotty! (or Lesli.) 5 lbs in May. I'd be thrilled with 8 lbs, but I'm going to be realistic.
 
It is great to see so many people working on a few lbs at a time. I really think that the goals are reasonable. If we all work together, we can get this done.

Although, I may be off to a slow start since we just got back from a wonderful birthday dinner that my family took me out for. I did comtemplate being very sensible, but then thought "it is my birthday, enjoy, and get back on track tomorrow." Glad I did. We did bring food home and I didn't overdo, but the foods were rich.

Looking forward to losing this month with all of you.:banana:
 
I would like to sign up too, but I really don't know what a reasonable goal is. Currently I weigh about 80 kilos (That's 176 lbs) and I want to lose about a total of 10 to 15 kilo (about 22-33 pounds). I know I should look this up for myself, but I am about to go bed now and if I don't post now, then I might not sign up for this month ;-).

So... What would be a reasonable and responsible amount of weight for a month? I don't mind going slow. I want my goals to be realistic.

What a great thread. I hope everyone will meet his/her goal this month...

Hey there - 22-33lbs is doable. So break it down into a monthly goal. Most people lose 1-2 pounds a week, so some of us have gone just a little higher at 2.5 to push ourselves. Why don't you start at 5lbs for May and ease yourself into it. You can do this :)

Do you have a plan on how to go about losing your first shorterm goal?

muffinimal - I think 2-3 kilos is manageble, that is an average of 4.5-7 lbs for the month. To make it easier for you, I would be glad to record your loss in kilos so you don't have to convert.

As for me, I am holding. I just did lasik so I have not been working on my weight loss program this week. Fortunately, I haven't been eating much either, but I do plan to get back to things by next week.

I hope you all have wonderful losses over the weekend.
 
I lost 1.6 pounds this week.

10lbs goal/1.6 loss= 8.4 to go :)
 
is it too late to join? I am heading to Disney on July 4th for two weeks and Ican not fit into any of my clothes. I started the atkins diet on Monday and am down 4 pounds so! But i have MANY more to go. is it reasonable to want to lose 20 pounds by then? or preferably more!
