Hi everybody! Doesn't look like anyone's started a thread for this month yet, so I thought I'd jump on it.

I have finally found steady income after 8 months of job searching, woohoo! I couldn't wait to get back here because I REALLY need this. I've tried so many other ways of keeping my budget and this is the best I've found! :thumbsup2

I've moved back home so I don't have to track grocery costs. Despite the savings, my mom will be taking half my paycheck to cover "living costs" so I'll have $800 to work with every month. Let's keep my purchases down and my No buys high! :cool1:

I like to split my days into 3's and keep a mini budget because it's easier for me keep track of.

I feel like I haven't been on the DIS forever (well, I actually haven't been). I would love to attempt a "No Buy" May. Unfortunately, it's already going to be a buy day for me. Both my boys need new shoes. One outgrew his and the other ripped the sole off! Here's what I have so far. Please be aware that it's not been a good month to this point. ;)
May 1: Avon order (hey, I was out of foot cream)- $30
May 2: Nada
May 3: Nada
May 4: Boys' shoes- around $60
That's all I have for now.

I've been at home sick all week so that has helped!

So far:

May 1 - nothing
May 2 - $75.10 for groceries.

I'm in. I've been spending like crazy lately and it's been making me feel ill.

Outside of food and takeout twice I'm not going to buy anything. That's my goal. I have enough toiletries/diapers (for my 4 month old - need to update ticker) stocked up that we should be fine. My achilles heel are kids clothes sales. I swear everyday we get a catalog or an email about discounted clothes like Gymboree or Hanna Andersson. I *could* buy more summer clothes for DD1, but I'm going to abstain for the month of May. It will be difficult though. It's so easy to pick up some items when each individual piece is so inexpensive, but it really does add up.

ETA - And gas of course! But I'm going to try to get it only twice, which means limiting far away trips.

I'm in. I recently started a new job and getting used to working again is different. I will just be tracking this month.

May 2012 Budget (4/30-5/30)

4/30- $80.07 Groceries, $13.96 Pepperidge Farm, $14.03 Gas, and $3.31 Walgreens
5/1- $11.31 Dress Barn (I needed new pants for work)
5/2- $0

I had a very spendy last few days of april which creeped into May a bit. Mostly frugal spending, but nonetheless spending...

Tues May 1 - 2.59 (communion card)
Wed May 2 - 32.32 (kohls) + 7.59 (bottle of cheap wine)
Thurs May 3 - 25.02 (gas)

67.52 - in 3 days. crazy how it adds up.

I haven't been on the DIS in soooo long but something drew me back here this week. So I'm going to join you lovely No Buyers this month. We got a little out of control at the end of last year, then had some unexpected medical expenses, so I really need to cut back to get our savings back up to a comfortable level.

The only thing besides food/toiletries that I know we'll be buying this month is summer shoes for DD. Let's try to keep it to that!

May 1: $0
May 2: $0
May 3: $10.50 lunch out for me; $5.26 drug store

Yesterday I went to Goodwill for a few more work items.

I am not sure yet what today will bring. I am suppossed to get paid today but since I am new it was not direct deposited this morning and no one knows of the check is going to be mailed to me or to the store (new store, new managers)

I'm so happy to see y'all here! Let's all keep better track of our spending so we can work on controlling it!

Yesterday was my first No buy . Today's not over yet, but I'll update it when it is. I'm going out tonight so not sure if my wallet will be getting lighter...

Jerseyguy's Wife: Shoes can be really pricey!

StitchesGr8fan: Off to a great start!

Theresa: Hope you feel better now!

goodeats
: Wow, no purchases all month?? Good luck!!

Elizabeth: My thoughts exactly. My spending is so different when I KNOW I have money. I hope nothing goes wrong with your check!

Ziggy: Yeah, it all adds up pretty quick.

Ava: Welcome! It seems a lot of us haven't been to the DIS in a while. I also had a long absence.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I've decided to put all my savings this month into a Disney fund! I know I'll be going back in Aug 2012 and it's never too late to start saving right?

Feeling a bit better - so I took two of my grandkids to see the Pirates (Band of Misfits) movie. Cost $44 with tickets, drinks, popcorn and snacks. But I enjoyed the movie (although four -year-old Xavier was a little scared of the rather ferocious Queen Victoria) and loved having the time with my grandkids.

And I'm going to have to buy more dog food tomorrow.

Found out my check wil be at the store tomorrow. They had some trouble processing a few of us new ones checks, but they are sending them to the store.

Today I stayed home and got ready for the weekend.

Grrr... I want to do this so much but my sister is getting married 5/19 and I am the matron of honor...

Maybe I can try to do the best I can even though it will be an expensive month.
I am not going to count groceries or gas since those are normal budgeted for expenses.

5/1 - no buy :thumbsup2
5/2 0$ :cool1:
5/3- $ 10 Champagne for bachelorette dinner. $12 supplies for bachelorette
5/4 - DH and I had a date night $50 for dinner and ice cream:lovestruc

As expected, I spent money today. But thankfully, it wasn't on clothes or make-up! I'm really proud of myself because I spent 3 hours in a mall and DIDN'T buy anything. Woohoo! I made sloppy joes today too, yum.

Well, I had a coupon for $40 at Penningtons, and they had one of their "Surprise Saturday" sales with all dresses at 50% off, and my son is getting married and I need something to wear. But I got a little carried away. Found two dresses I liked, both $50 (this is a fairly casual wedding), then found a tank top that I thought was pretty for $20 and bought all of them. So it was $25 per dress, $20 for the tank top, plus taxes, minus the $40 coupon. Not bad, really.

Tomorrow I really have to get dog food - I buy large bags so it will be about $80.
