May vs. October

OK...the decision is made, thanks to your help, to go for the 7 night Western Cruise vs. the 4 night.

Now, the question arises....May vs. October. I know I can count on all you veterans out there....if you had to pick between these two months, which would you pick?

that is, if the cost is identical to October....

With a May cruise, you eliminate the risk of a possible hurricane changing your itinerary or canceling your cruise altogether....

For the same hurricane reason, I would go with May. My husband and I did Disney cruises in October 2002 and October/November 2003. Both times, we were fortunate that we did not miss ports due to weather. Last year as we know was a bad hurricane season, and reports I have heard was that we will see similar for a few years. Good luck! We're going in December to see the holiday decor and miss the hurricanes.

i love to travel in may, this is when we always take our FL vacations- the weather is great, not as much rain, not as sweltering hot as in the summer and not so much fear of hurricanes- prices are ususally cheaper

can't wait till may 2005 for my first DCL

Although this year is not supposed to be as bad a hurricane year, I would NEVER cruise during hurricane season. I would not be "afraid" on the ship, but since we live on a barrier Island, and their might be an evacuation, there are things to do to your home and we also have dogs that would be boarded and we would never leave them in that situation. And I don't think I could have a good time on the ship, if I knew my house, pets and livelyhood were in jeopardy.

So, I vote for May.....
