Any big advantages of heading to Aulani in mid-May vs mid-July? Cons for May are missing school. Cons for July are higher DVC points required. What else should I factor in?

I would think it would be more crowded in July and I know plane tickets are usually cheaper in May.

If Aulani is your home resort then availability may not be an issue for July. But if it is not, you may struggle to find a week in July at the 7-month mark for the type of room you want/need/have enough points for. I just looked and there are already some options unavailable the first week of July, 2018. Granted, there are still a number of options available, but as it gets closer to the 7-month window, you may find you have very little to choose from. As just one example, right now there are only 6 dates in May unavailable for a Standard Studio, yet there are 18 days already unavailable in June and 2 days the first week in July. We were there the last 2 weeks in May and had a number of options available when we booked our trip at the 7-month mark. Again, there are a lot of variables to consider as already noted, but availability may end up being the thing that makes the decision for you.

If the kids are in elementary school or no problem missing take them out!

Cheaper, less crowded and lil cooler.
Beg of May better I would think.
Some schools in south end mid may I think

We are going in July and booked with points within a few days of the 11 month mark. There were already dates sold out for a studio in a standard and garden. Availability may not be as good in July.
