May the Force Be with Us PTR. UPDATED Plans 3/1

 Hi!! I just found your PTR. I'm going in March as well. We will be there the 8th-16th, but we are not going to any of the parks you are doing on the days you go to them.. We tend to stay away from the EMH's though.

I don't think we have ever done a PM EMH, but we almost always do the AM EMH. We have had good luck with them, but only because we get there before rope drop. It's a great time of year to go. We went last year at the same time. The weather is beautiful, and the Flower & Garden show is cool. Your week should be even less busy than ours, at least at the beginning, since there are less Spring Breaks earlier in March and it's further away from Easter. Have you done your FP+ yet? I am finalizing plans, because I have to mine Saturday night/Sunday morning.

We went the same week last year too (and the year before). The weather is so pretty in March. I get to make my Fast Passes on Friday Morning and I've been finalizing them this week. Of course I've been tweeking them a bit to make them more manageable. We have done the AM EMH's in the past and had good luck with them. My family tends to like to stay out later now with the kids getting older, so we never make it to make it worth it. So I just plan around them. ;)

My daughter (the one in college) starts spring break the Monday after we arrive. So I'm sure that time frame will start to get busy. But we are good with crowds... well everyone but my hubby. LOL

Do you do any of the concerts when you are there? I have been waiting on pins and needles for the concert dates to come out. Can't wait!

I just realized that my FP+ date isn't until next week. We get to Universal on the 11th, and I originally calculated with that date. Woohoo! More time:)

Last year was the first year we went during F&G. We really weren't into any of the bands playing. Plus, I don't know if DS9, soon to be 10, would be happy hanging out listening to the bands. Last year at Universal, Styx was playing while we were there for the Mardi Gras celebration. I didn't really see any bands at Universal that looked appealing this year. I thought they announced the F&G bands, but maybe I am thinking of Food & Wine, since that just happened.

I pick FP+ tomorrow night. Here is what I am hoping to get.

DHS Day 1: TSMM 10:30am, TOT 3:30pm (DS may be the only one that rides), Star Tours 4:30pm
MK Day 2: 7DMT 10am, Space Mountain 11am, BMTRR noon
Epcot Day 3: TT 11am, Spaceship Earth noon, Turtle Talk 1pm (This third one was a hard choice with Soarin' down and MS Orange a Tier 1 now)
MK Day 4: Haunted Mansion 11am, 7DMT noon, Space Mountain 1pm
AK Day 5: Safari 9:10am, Lion King 12:30pm, Expedition Everest 1:30pm
DHS Day 6: TOT 9:45am, TSMM 11am, Star Tours noon (Departure day:()

Beginning Countdown! 60 days:bounce:

So, I got pretty close to what I wanted:cool1: I need to rerun (optimize/evaluate) my Touring Plans with the new times. Once I do that I will post an updated, detailed WDW schedule. It is always so nerve wracking doing this. I like to select either a schedule that's close to what I wanted or something completely different to prevent conflicts when I modify them. I like to get something for everyday and then go back and modify each one to be closer to what I want. I keep 3 tabs open in the browser: MDX, Google sheet with FP+ dates/times/attractions, and Touring Plans.com personalized plans. I keep having to switch back and forth, but it seems to work well enough. I was practicing earlier tonight, and I actually could find 7DMT on 2/12 (30 days out) for reasonable times, ie late morning, all afternoon. I was really surprised, because people talk about how hard it is to get. There are only the 3 of us, so I am sure that helps. I haven't had any issues getting it for 2 trips so far.

DHS Day 1: TSMM 9:50am (I had a typo before and meant 10am instead of 10:30am), TOT 3:25pm, Star Tours 4:25pm (Only 5-10 minutes off for all)

MK Day 2: 7DMT 10:05am, Space Mountain 11:05am, BMTRR 12:05pm (Only 5 min off for all)

Epcot Day 3: TT 10:45am (This is off by 15 min but we won't ride it until 11:20am as a second time), Spaceship Earth 11:55am, Turtle Talk 1:20pm (This is off by 20 min but we can kill time in Innoventions, TT or MS exhibit/gift shop, or Baymax)

MK Day 4: Haunted Mansion 11:05am, 7DMT 12:05pm, Space Mountain 1:10pm (Only 5-10 min off)

AK Day 5: Safari 9:20am (Only 10 min off), Lion King 12:30pm, Expedition Everest 1:30pm

DHS Day 6: TOT 9:35am (Only 10 min off), TSMM 11am, Star Tours noon (Departure day:()

Bed time. Gotta get up early for work tomorrow. They just don't understand that I am too excited/distracted to work, because I only have 60 days until I am at my happy place;)

I did our magic bands a while ago. I would like to get DS a special Star Wars one at the parks, if they have some cool ones left. I have a Cheshire cat slider, and DS has an R2D2 one. I might have to steal his R2D2 slider for my MB:) We also have some cool MB skins with Chopper from Star Wars Rebels courtesy of @OhioStateBuckeye and BF. Can't wait to put those on.

Me - Blue/R2D2
DH - Blue/Han Solo
DS - Orange/BB-8

Whoa whoa whoa, I never got a notification that I was tagged in this! Stupid DISboards, I would have found this much sooner if I'd known I'd been tagged.

We also just booked a vacation for the Grand Canyon in August. Since the WDW trip is shorter than our original June plans, we decided to do a 4 day trip to the Grand Canyon. It was difficult to find lodging in the park at the South Rim with 2 beds. I had to look at almost everyday for each hotel:scared: We did find something though in Maswik, which is not on the main drag but is still in the village. It has AC too:) Southwest doesn't have flights yet for August, so we only have the hotel. None of us have ever been, so this will be a great trip. If I can stop taking current trips and planning new ones, then maybe I could do my reports on our recent trips to San Francisco, the Disney Family Museum, and Germany:rolleyes:

Oooh the Grand Canyon, did you read my trip report about when we went there? Might give you some good ideas :) I am going to need to read your Disney Family Museum recap, I really enjoyed it. Wish they had something like that in Downtown Disney.

That happens to me sometimes too. Once I have a thread marked as watched, I go look at my watched threads every now and then. I find that there are unread ones that didn't get a notification about. Sometimes you can mark every thread in a forum or all forums as read, and it starts working again.

I actually did read your trip report:) It was very helpful. Since our trip to WDW was shortened by going at Spring Break, I thought it would be nice to do something not too long in the summer. Plus, my mom has been hounding me that I need to take DS to the national parks:rolleyes: I think she thinks we go to Disney too often.

The Family Museum was awesome. I spent all day there:) Thanks for the tips on it. I would love something like this in Orlando.

Thanks for reading.

Glad you got your FP+!! They all sound great and I have a lot of the same stuff. I do admit that it was a lot easier to get FP+ this year. I didn't even do it in the morning when I woke up, I ended up doing it around lunch time at work on my phone and I still got everything. The only one that I could not get for our first MK day was our M and G with Anna and Elsa so we're doing that later in the week.

This is crazy. This is crazy. This is crazy. (Clark Griswold, National Lampoon's Vacation)

I must really have an addiction. I have booked a hotel and ADRs for the DIS Podcast 10th anniversary. Nothing is set in stone yet for the event, but there seems to be an idea of when it might happen. I am also trying to plan how to upgrade my tickets for March to an annual pass when we get there. It seems the more Disney I get, the more I want:sad2: This will probably be a solo trip, but I might meet with some friends while there. I feel a little guilty about planning a solo trip, but I want to be able to do some stuff that DS would find boring. We'll see. Everything so far is still refundable:rolleyes:

Jealous about your dis anniversary trip I really want to go.

For some reason, your updates are not showing in my feed. I got behind. Congratulations on switching your resort! @mickeystoontown has an awesome thread about CBR planning! I really enjoyed our last two stays there, June 2015 and January 2016! We stayed in Jamaica both times. I loved that area!

I totally get it, the more Disney you have the more you want! AP's are a great idea. If it works with the Disney math, go for it!

I find that I sometimes I have just look at what threads I have watched, then it will show me what I have not read yet. Also, the board software seems to forget. You can mark an entire forum as read, then it will start alerting you properly. It happens to me all of the time.

I am behind on this. Hopefully, once we get back home, I can update. We are in Tulsa for a wedding. I am excited about CBR. The AP seems to work, especially if I go in July. Plus, if I renew it next year, then I will get early registration for the 2017 F&W half marathon for DH. I think we are going to go for my birthday. I might try the 5k, but DH has done a marathon before.

Well, this comment showed up as an alert. I do have it as a watched thread. Enjoy the wedding.

A birthday trip and 5K sounds exciting!

The Darkside Challenge is going to be DH's first 5k ever.

March Detailed Plans (3/11-20)

Lunch at Fast Food Blvd possibly with a donut sundae for dessert:)
- Hogwart's Express to Universal Islands of Adventure in the afternoon:
- Including Forbidden Journey and probably butterbeer & Honeydukes
Swimming back at the hotel.
Dinner at Cow Fish in Citywalk
We might hit the hay a little early this night, since DST starts the next day.

Sunday: Universal
Islands of Adventure in the morning: Mostly repeating rides.
Hogwart's Express to Universal Studios in the afternoon: Mostly repeating rides
Lunch at Leaky Cauldron. We have only done Three Broomsticks before.
Swimming back at the hotel.
Dinner at Margaritaville in Citywalk
Mardi Gras parade at Universal Studios. We haven't see this yet.

Monday:
Universal in the morning:
Hitting both parks, mostly repeating rides. Might do lunch at Three Broomsticks.

WDW Resort in the afternoon: Staying at Caribbean Beach Resort
- My massage at the Grand Floridian:thumbsup2
- DS & DH swim at CBR
- Sneak over to MK and switch out my hoppers for an AP:woohoo:
Disney Springs for snacks (Jock Lindseys, Ganachery, Goofy' Candy Store) and dinner probably at Earl of Sandwhich. We have never been to mosts of these, except Goofy's. Buy Star Wars stuff (R2D2 & BB8 earhats and build a saber and droids).

Tuesday: DHS (Hitting rope drop on a day without AM EMH)
I had a bit of a freakout over a week ago. I woke up early out of town to find out that TSMM would be down the entire day (3/15) and instead we got an RNRC FP+. DS & DH were going to ride RNRC anyway, but we really like TSMM. In fact, this trip was going to be the first time that we would have gotten to ride twice in one trip, since we will be going to DHS twice. It all worked. Hopefully, some Disney magic will happen, and we will still get to ride it again on a different daypixiedust:

Heading straight for Jedi Training sign up.
- GMR, Star Tours (twice :darth:), Muppet Vision, Jedi Training:yoda:
Lunch @ 50s Prime Time. We have never eaten there.
- One Man's Dream, LMA (for the last time), Indiana Jones, RNRC (FP+), Launch Bay (Kylo Ren Visa M&G and possibly Chewie:chewy:), TOT (FP+. DS wants to ride but not by himself. He may talk DH into doing it. I will be taking the chicken exit.), Path of the Jedi, Star Tours (FP+ because you can't get enough Star Wars:) )
Dinner @ Backlot Express, probably for Star Wars food and drinks
Free until the dessert party. Probably will do Launch Bay more to see anything else we didn't finish or trade with the Jawas. Maybe meet up with some DIS friends. Maybe get pre-dessert party dessert:) Maybe check out Tataouine Traders for any Star Wars stuff we missed.
Dessert Party to eat, drink, and watch the fireworksparty:

Wednesday:
MK in the morning: Hitting rope drop on a day without AM EMH.

- Pooh, Buzz, Pirates of the Caribbean, Tiki Room, Haunted Mansion, 7DMT (FP+), Space Mountain (FP+. This will be my first time to ride it as an adult:worried: )
Lunch @ either Columbia Harbor House, Pinocchio Village Haus, or Friar's Nook (aka Mac n Cheese Palace:) )
- Peoplemover, BMTRR

Swim at the hotel in the afternoon.

Date Night: :woohoo:
DS will go to Lilo's Playhouse at the Polynesian, while DH and I try Trader Sam's for the first time.
Then we will head to Morimoto Asia for dinner.

Thursday: EPCOT (AM EMH)
No Soarin' since it's closed:sad:
- Test Track, MS Orange, Spaceship Earth, Nemo, Living with the Land, MS Orange (FP+)
Lunch probably at Sunshine Seasons, the grilled cheese cart near TT, or a Flower & Garden food booths
- Test Track (FP+), Sum of All Thrills, Spaceship Earth (FP+), Turtle Talk (FP+:sad2:)
- There is a bunch of stuff that we want to do that won't really have waits. We can do it after getting our rides in and before hitting World Showcase: Pixar Shorts, Imagination Pavilion (not the ride though), Club Cool, TT Pavilion, Mission Space Lab, Innoventions East (which is probably pretty much empty), Baymax M&G (since we missed him & Hiro last year).
- World Showcase to see all of the countries, nosh and drink at the food booths and countries, and Agent P. I need to drink a margarita from La Cava, Grey Goose Slush from France, apple brandy from Germany, and sake from Japan. I also want to get a Dole Whip, hopefully with non-coconut rum, from the Pineapple Promenade booth, black forest cake, caramels, and pretzels from Germany, shaved ice from Japan, school bread from Kringla, a pastry from Les Halles, and maybe ice cream from France. I think I am going to have to split stuff with DH and DS:o
Dinner @ Marrakesh, which we have never been too.
- More World Showcase and Illuminations

Friday: MK (AM EMH)
I am not thrilled with what happened to my Touring Plan when I recently re-optimized. It is wildly overstating the wait at Peter Pan at rope drop. Oh well, it always works out.
- Peter Pan, Tea Cups, Buzz, BMTRR, Splash Mountain (This will be the first time for DS and I to ride. DH is going to babysit our stuff, especially the camera.), Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean
Lunch @ either Columbia Harbor House, Pinocchio Village Haus, Friar's Nook (aka Mac n Cheese Palace), or Cosmic Ray's (where ever we haven't eaten yet)
- It's a Small World, Haunted Mansion, 7DMT (FP+), Monsters Inc, Space Mountain (FP+, second time to ride if I liked the first), Philharmagic, Pooh, Tomorrowland Speedway (DS and DH have never ridden), Carousel of Progress, Peoplemover, Tom Sawyer Island, Swiss Family Treehouse
Dinner hopefully at Jungle Cruise Skipper Canteen. They better have those darn mugs in>:(
- Tiki Room, Riverboat, Country Bear Jamboree, Hall of Presidents, Little Mermaid (First time riding at WDW. Rode it @ DLR.), Barnstormer (first time riding for DS & DH, can't remember if I did it as a kid)
- Free time until MSEP & Wishes. We will be doing Sorcerers of MK and the Railroad at some point. We might try to hit Jungle Cruise again in the dark, because it's really cool then.
- We will hit the candy store before staking out a spot for MSEP. We usually don't wait around too long for a spot. Then find a spot for Wishes.

Saturday:
AK in the morning (AM EMH):

We have never done AM EMH at AK. It looks like we will get a lot done.
- Expedition Everest (twice. I might ride if I liked Space Mountain.), Primeval Whirl (twice), Dinosaur (twice, if we don't get sick of it after the first ride), Primevil Whirl (again:) ), Safari (FP+), Flights of Wonder (Love this show. Will probably get a frozen chai, if they still have them, before the show.)
Lunch @ Tusker House
- Lion King (FP+), Expedition Everest (again, FP+), It's Tough to Be a Bug, and maybe the Wildlife Express Train and Conservation Station

Swim at the hotel

DHS in the evening:
Not sure if we would eat at the hotel for dinner or eat at DHS. Probably see more Launch Bay, maybe try to do TSMM and meet up with DIS friends, but definitely see the Fireworks from outside of the dessert party area.

Sunday: Departure Day:sad:
Breakfast @ 1900 Park Fare. This is a tradition for us now. We love Mary and Pooh.

DHS in the morning:
Unfortunately, it's an AM EMH day, and we will be getting there late due to breakfast.
- TOT (FP+. We will see who actually rides.), RNRC (Maybe single rider line. I might even ride if I liked EE.), TSMM (FP+), Launch Bay, Star Tours (FP+)
Lunch and the rest of the time are up in the air.

Depart for airport mid-afternoon

I can't believe it so close now. It seems like I have been planning this trip for an eternity. We haven't been since last Spring Break, and I am jonesing bad.

Our Magic Bands came in a week or so ago. I am R2D2, DS is BB8, and DH is Han Solo.

Thanks to @OhioStateBuckeye, we have these really cool MB skins to put on them.

DS also got a cool BB8 themed MB. I am hoping I can snag his R2D2 slider for my R2D2 band:)

I don't have anything to post. Just waiting until we leave on Friday. I still need to pack, but that's usually best done as a marathon, stay-up-all night kind of thing anyway;) Hopefully, this week will go by fast, and next week will go by slowly:)
