May the Force Be With Us May 2012 Dining Review Updated Narccoosses

I've never had a bad meal at 50s! Their portions are huge, way too much to finish! Last year my nephew got the wedge salad and the look on his face when he saw how big it was was priceless!

I agree that salad is a meal in itself. If we didn't have the DDP we would jut split the platter and dad's brownie.

So glad to hear you can get ranch dressing other than the blue cheese with the wedge salad at 50's. I've always wanted to order it, but don't like blue cheese much.

Thanks for sharing your reviews!

More great reviews. I love 50's Primetime and always enjoy my meal there. I usually get the fried chicken because it is just. so. good. I haven't tried any of the appetizers, but will have to take a look next time. I love blue cheese and that salad looks fantastic - blue cheese and bacon, what more could I ask for?

Glad to hear about the great time at Chefs de France. I'll be there in October! Thanks for the pics!

Dinner Yachtsman Steakhouse

Friday May 18 7:30

This was our third time to dine here and we loooove this place so much! However this time the food was excellent but our server was one of the one worst in my entire life. I try to be understanding having been one is the past, but this was unreal! Before we get into that here are a few pics of us waiting for our meal. We really enjoyed watching the butcher cut the steaks while we waited.

We were seated in a small booth which was nice and cozy and waited for our server to come by. We waited about 10 minutes before she arrived. Since started off by asking if we would like water, to which we both replied "yes". When said tap water would do for now, and she then proceeded to roll her eyes and was quite rude after that. She brings the bread with the butter and seasalt and begins to try and explain where the seasalt is from and finally tells us she forgot where it was from :lmao: What amazes me at this point is another couple is seated right next to us and she was a completely different person, super friendly downright kissing their behinds and being a chatty Cathy with them! With us she was making us feel like we shouldn't even be dining there. The past two times we have dined here we have had excellent professional service and I was in shock and upset at this point. However I am starving and just want to eat. Onto the food, for the appetizers my husband had a sample board with different pates, meats, etc. The stuff in the jar looked like lard to me and he didn't try it. The server didn't explain anything to him so far all he knew he could have been eating Crisco :rotfl: (In the past our servers at the YM have always given us an indepth explanation of our appetizers as well as the entrees.) I had the soft shell crab and it was out of this world good and highly recommend. The server did say to me, you do know you can eat the whole thing when she brought it to me, to which I told her yes I knew how to eat soft shell crab.

For our entrees my DH decided on the porterhouse. He did ask our server to explain what it was and she did not do a good job interpreting to him what a porterhouse was. My DH enjoyed it but really wished he had gone with the filet as the porterhouse was not what he really wanted. He ordered it medium well and it was brought out rare. The sweet gentleman who brought it out was very apologetic and had it corrected on the spot. If only he had been our waiter! All this time our server never came by to ask how everything was as I am sitting there letting my food get cold while his steak is corrected. On a good note with the porterhouse, which was quite good, those french fries are the best I have ever tasted. I don't know what they do to them, but wow they are yummy! For my entree I was super excited to try the surf and turf. Sorry Narccoossees, you have nothing on this surf and turf, it was perfection on a plate and a great use of the dining plan. With all this goodness on our table our server again never asked us how is it, sorry for the rare steak mix up nothing! She was too busy working other tables hard and leaving us with no tea refills and no service. :confused3

Toward the end of the meal I developed a terrible headache, maybe I had too much shellfish goodness, maybe it was the stress from the server, who knows :lmao: Our server comes by to pick up our plates and proceeds to drop my steak knife onto me which cuts my arm a little bit and she doesn't say anything. It was a small poke but geez you could at least say your sorry. I tell my husband to take care of the check I do not want dessert I just need to get out of here. I go over to the store in the Yacht Club to buy some advil for my pounding head, look around the store, and even talk to the girl working there for a bit and still no DH. He had to sit there for about 15 minutes before she brought the check. Had my head not been pounding I would have spoken to a manager, but we left. We were so disappointed with the service that it almost ruined our evening, but we didn't let it. We still love the food at the YM and we will be back. However if we get this lady again I'am either going to leave or get someone else. I have never had a server anywhere make me feel so upset and disappointed and especially at a Disney Resort. That evening my head felt much better after leaving and we met some friends at Club Rix at CSR which was a lot of fun!

The soft shell crab and surf and turf dishes look awesome! Yachtsman's current menu is full of incredible dishes. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear about the off service - a server can really make or break a meal.

That really stinks about your server! Sorry that happened to you.

She sounds like a horror show. I always got the impression that WDW servers cut their teeth on lower end restaurants, then the excellent ones get promoted to the signatures. You would hope that someone who sounds that clueless wouldn't make the cut a signature.

Anyway, your photos are great! I'm glad to hear that you really liked the fries that came with the porterhouse. "Smoked paprika fries" didn't sound that special to me, but you make them sound fantastic. :) I think I want to order that entree as it's my favorite cut of steak at home.

Fyi to anyone who is wondering, the porterhouse cut combines a piece each of New York strip and filet mignon steak by keeping them together on the bone.

Sorry you had such poor service! I would be ticked, too, to be ignored while she was giving great service to her other tables.

You have me seriously regretting my decision not to get the soft shell crab at Yachtsman on my recent trip. That looks amazing! So sorry you had such terrible service though. That really does put a damper on an experience like that. We had a similar experience at The Wave last trip. Our server was horrible to us, but then we could see her being so nice to other tables. :confused3

Sorry you had such horrible service....but at least your food was delicious! Those fries do look amazing!

I was excited to see your review for Yachtsman since we will be there in August. After reading it I hope we don't get your server! So sorry for the service issues at Yachtsman... that is entirely unacceptable for anywhere let alone a Disney signature restaurant. Glad to know the steaks are good though.

BTW: You looked so pretty at dinner! :goodvibes

Thanks for the better explanation, the server did mention something about a filet being attached, but her idea and my husband's were two different views on the porterhouse.

Sorry you had such poor service! I would be ticked, too, to be ignored while she was giving great service to her other tables.

:confused3 I am still confused as to why we didn't get the same service everyone else did.

You will have to have it next time :thumbsup2

Thank goodness the food was good, because I have been talking this restaurant up for years and again the food was excellent.

If you get a blonde short hair lady in her late 50's to early 60's watch out :rotfl: Thank you for the sweet comment :goodvibes

CSR Club Level Longe Review

We were lucky enough to get upgraded at check in for the club level lounge at CSR. It is located in Cabana 9 right next door to El Centro. Our room was just around the corner and we were totally spoiled to say the least. This is something they have been doing for about a year now, and though I would not pay for it, I will happily enjoy it for free! The lounge was quiet relaxing with two tv's, xbox, computer station with printer, and plenty of chairs. When you walk in they always had 3 different flavors of water with fresh fruit, which was a nice touch. The lounge is only open for breakfast and opens at 5 for evening offerings. For breakfast they had bagels, pasteries, toast, fresh mango yogurt, cereal, fresh fruit along with juices, coffee, espresso machine and bottled water. For the evening they had dips, hummus, cheese, fruit, chips/salsa and taro chips (yum). Along with beer wine and sangria. The staff was super nice and always willing to help.

Club Level at CSR? Coronado Springs Resort? At a moderate? Really? Or am I missing something?

Yes only at CSR for the moderates, I think it has something to do with it being a convention resort. There was a convention going on while we were there, but we just there on vacation. We had the yellow room keys just like the club level deluxe resorts.

:sad1:I'm going to miss my yellow key this year.

I can't believe you had such rude service. What up with her attitude? What do think triggered her off? Were you on the Dining plan? Was it the water? Was she just a ***** friendly name?

Good pictures!
