My husband and I are considering the transatlantic cruise leaving Fort Lauderdale with a final destination of Barcelona. I am most concerned about the weather as we cross the Atlantic. We love to relax by the pool and I’m worried it will be too cool. Anyone with experience for a transatlantic crossing in May?

A friend did a similar cruise on RCL last May. It was quite cool and rainy (they did not bring enough clothes for cooler weather) but they still had an amazing cruise. She put her bathing suit on once the entire cruise. Next time she would bring more long pants and hoodies to be able to enjoy the outdoors more.

Once they were across they saw a lot of neat sea life - dolphins, whales and more!

We did an east bound TA in May (2016). We ran into pretty rough seas on the northern reaches of the Atlantic. Now we were headed for Dover, not Barcelona, so the route your proposed cruise would be taking could be different. The Captain had to alter course several times to drop more southerly to avoid the rain/sleet outside. After 6 days of "don't go out on the outer decks" instructions by the Captain, there were a lot of people cheering when they saw land (mostly those who were not attending dinner in the MDRs, it seemed).

On the other hand, we did a west bound TA from Barcelona in September (typically leading into hurricane weather), and the seas were smooth as glass with sunny days. So, who knows?
