I am trying to figure out my plans for our May trip. Last year there was a 24Hr event at MK on the Friday before Mem. Weekend, are we expecting that to happen again, Friday May 23rd? If not, MK is good for that day. If so, then I will avoid it
I would really like to know which I should plan on. If it is, then Friday will for sure be my SWW day, and I would probably just stick w/the one MK day this trip.
I also need to do SWW on either the first day I am there, Sunday, or the last day I am there, Friday (yes, same Friday as above). This year I am planning to go all-out making SW outfits for my kids. This is the highlight of their trip (my boys aren't into other Disney Characters). I have 2 different ideas for how to plan the day and would be better.
Option #1, arrive at 7:30 (UGH! EARLY!), go straight to JTA, ride rides, watch the Parade at 11AM, then leave for a nap before or after their JTA time, be back around 5-6, try to meet CHewy and Leia (the two faves, we did DV a few years ago), watch the Hoopla and the Fireworks (not F!). Whatever rides get done, great, whatever doesn't will have to wait for another year.
Option #2, arrive around 10AM, watch Parade, do my 3 FP+ rides, get character autographs, no breaks during the day, stay the entire time until after the Hoopla/Fireworks. Plan on a second HS day for JTA and riding rides/shows. This would be an all SW day, focusing on all the special SW things to do.
Option #1- I have to wake up early, but we get the things we want done in just one day, but it will be an early morning and a late night (my littlest is 3). I don't think we would get a lot of rides done, and we may not meet as many Characters if we leave for the nap, but I don't see any way we can do RD to Close without a break. This would get our must-haves (JTA, RnR, ToT, and TSMM) and a few SW things, the Parade, Hoopla and FIreworks are must-dos, too. We wouldn't get to do as many Character meets, and we would take a break in the middle of the day.
Option #2- I like this one better, we would focus the whole day on SW stuff, meet all the Characters we want. THe problem is that we would need to go 2 days to HS bc JTA is a *must* for my boys. I'd rather be there at 8:30 on a not-so-crowded day and enjoy the park more. That said, we would be trading that second HS day for a MK day, so only 1 day in MK! I'm not sure the trade is worth it. We would for sure get to do everything at HS, though, if we spent 2 days there.
We did to JTA on SWW once, we were there in line at 7:00, they didn't even have anyone at the parking booths, they just waved us thru b/c they weren't ready yet. EARLY! So I know it can be done, just wondering if I want to spend so much of my SW day doing JTA. Advice? THoughts?
