May Photopass gone bad

I just wanted to tell my recent experience in a photopass share.

First, I learned my lesson, I should of paid the regular price for the Disney photopass and not have trusted someone else with my vacation memories!

Here's what happened:
I started a thread about sharing a photopass with a group of people. I requested that I was not very good on the computer but if someone else could host the share that would be great. Well, we got a person to host the share, in fact so many people responded that she said she would host the share for three groups of 7 in each group. Everyone paid the $22.50 and waited for the vacations and their time to edit the pictures. July 14th she said that she sent out the photos. I never received mine so after about 10 days went by I asked if she could check on the status of the mailing. (I should also mention that I paid her $45.00 because another family went along with us but I said she could save on shipping and send both the CD's to my house.) She never responded to this request so I asked her to send another CD out, she admitted that she never sent my second one out so she would have that to send. I requested for her to overnight it because she surely would have enough postage from the $45.00 that I sent. She said she would not send it overnight but she would send it out. It has been over 10 days again and now she is not responding to any of my emails. She did tell me that she was sick and that she was working a lot of hours. I told her when she cashed my check she had a responsibility to fulfill her end of the bargain. I have now tried to contact other people in my group to see if I can get the CD to print my pictures. I am hoping that someone can help me out.
Its not the money that upsets me the most but it is the fact that she is holding my pictures hostage and it is not just my pictures but my friends as well. I can not just duplicate those memories!! BTW it has been almost 3 months since out vacation!

I have heard of a scamming on a photopass...I hope this is just an incompetent person & that you WILL get your pics!
On that note...I did a photopass share 2 years ago & it went great. But I know how tough it is to trust when you have been wronged!
 
That's terrible.

Have you been able to contact other members of the group? Did they get their photos?

I hope your CD arrives, three months is a long time to wait.

I have participated in the shares and have been the organizer for two groups and everything has gone well. It's unfortunate that some, ruin it for the rest.

I did send emails and PM's to the other 5 in my group and I haven't heard from anybody yet, but I sent them only a few hours ago so I am still hopeful!

This is the second time that I have read about this very thing on here. I hope that you get your pictures soon. If not, you should post her user name to warn others about her. (if you can even do that)
 
If you mailed her the check you can file mail fraud charges. See if that makes the cd appear :rolleyes1

We have been in a few photopass shares that turned out pretty good, I hope everything turns out for you....keep us posted
 
I am sorry this has happend to you. I hope that you get your pictures soon. I participated in a photopass share in March and it could not have went more pleasantly. My group was wonderful. But, there is always one bad egg in every bunch.
 
I am sorry you may have lost your vacation photos. And your $22.

I was surprised the Boards allowed this kind of share in the first place. I always thought it was kind of shady, and would never do a share with anyone unless I knew them IRL. I have read about far too many shares - or back when you had to pay for them the swaps, too - that have gone bad [someone pocketed the money and never sent the photo CD, or there was no fridge or stroller when someone' week rolled around].
 
If she is having a problem with mailing out the desk, which it sounds like she is:rolleyes:, tell her to upload your family and your friend family's photos to walmart.com and you could order a cd from there. Go ahead and set up an account and email her the login info and tell her to upload the pictures on that account. Maybe that will help.:confused3
 
Sorry about your experience. I was in a May share also that appears to have gone bad. Luckily for me I had a bad feeling about it before I got back from our trip so ended up ordering the CD myself when we got back. Last I heard no one has gotten their cd yet. I'm out the money I paid for the share but at least I still have my photo's.
 
I'm sorry! As an honest person that has hosted shares before, it really makes me angry that people prey on people like this. It makes me very angry!!! I also can't believe that everyone got charged so much - I'm currently hosting a group of 7, and it only cost us $17 a piece!
 
There is always someone in the bunch that can't handle doing their "job" sorry to hear about this.
 
Let's not divert this thread into a discussion of the validity of Photopass Shares. It's water under the bridge now and the OP needs solutions, not "serves you right" responses.

I hope that another member of this swap got their CD and can help the OP out. It would be a shame to have lost all of those photos for good.

I have heard back from one member of the share but I not sure she is in my group so I am checking on that. The one thing that frustrates me the most is that she (the host) is not contacting me at all. I can tell she is reading my emails by checking the status of my mail. I just don't understand why she is not communicating with me. I will try to suggest the Walmart solution about uploading the pictures to them and then in turn I could process the pictures.

Yea that will go over well. Sue someone because they (and you) screwed Disney out of their money. :thumbsup2 Genius thinking!!!!!! :rolleyes:

Taking money for a mailed item that you did not send or intentionally defrauding people is a mail fraud offense. It's not a lawsuit in any way. I've seen successful police action against someone that defaulted on numerous swaps (not here and not disney related) because it is mail fraud. I didn't even suggest out right calling the police, if someone is just being lazy and dragging their feet but has your stuff, the mention usually gets the ball rolling.

Whether or not you agree with photo pass shares being against moral codes/stealing from disney is an entirely different matter. I make no comment on that. It won't help at this point.
 
It really makes me sad - and frustrated - when I read about people not receiving their photos due to these "shares" going bad.. Someone - somewhere - should just put an end to them.. :(

Both times I have used Photo Pass I paid for my own - because as we all know, there's no "replacing" those photos once you're back home.. My photos mean the world to me and I would cut back on something else before I ever trusted someone else to send them to me at a later date.. Of course we also take our own photos (just in case WDW runs into a problem), but I would certainly trust them before I would trust a stranger running a "share"..

Anyhow - I hope you get your photos soon.. I can't believe this person won't even respond to your emails.. That is soooooo wrong!! :mad:
