We are planning on visiting WDW and Universal in 2018. After looking at different sites about crowds, we are stumped about which month to attend. This is not our first visit and usually went in September in the past. Though about May for a change and considering its the end of the school year for the kids. We looked at hotels for this September and found that many hotels seemed to be full. Any info as appreciated!

We are doing our 2nd May trip next month so I can give you a better idea in a few weeks. In the past September was the time to go but I think the parks are fairly crowded then, also with Sept there is a chance of poor weather from a hurricane. Crowd calendars are noting crowd levels @5's for Mid-May.

Both are good options. May has some great weather and is early enough that you don't hit a lot of those intense summer crowds and tour groups. September is nice as it allows you to hit both Food and Wine and MNSSHP before a lot of those October break crowds.

Were there any specific part of the month that were you looking at?

Early-Mid May is awesome - it becomes more crowded toward the end of the month. Weather is hot, but not as humid. Great time of the year to go.

You are already familiar with September, so I will just note that hotels get booked up in September because of the free dining promotion, but there are very few locals in the parks so the crowds are very low.

EARLY May & Sept are my 2 favorite times to go, it kinda just depends what you want to hit up.
-Sept has the arrival of fall decorations and halloween
-HUMID and hot
-Risk of bad weather due to hurricane season
-Low crowds
-Free dining plan

May has flower & garden at Epcot
-Slightly better weather, not so humid
-Crowds are about the same, maybe a smidge higher

If you've been in Sept before and want to try something new, I'd go for May, otherwise I think it'd just come down to the cost breakdown for each trip. If one was cheaper, go with that! I personally, love everything halloween, so that's a major pull for me. Also remember the last weekend of May is usually crazy busy!
