Anyone have an opinion? Quickly planned trip to Disney this October (kids Fall Break) or wait till May '07 and take the kids out a little early for a trip week before Memorial Day? Any info would be VERY appreciated! Looks like crowds are definately better in October... This is our first trip as a young family and, like everyone else, I want it to be special and fun. We will have a full week either time of year and although we know this is not a "cheap" adventure we sure don't want to tap out ALL our savings. (Not emergency savings, BTW, we have a trip fund)

All you smart saavy DISers, any help for a first timer? Thanks :goodvibes .

This is tuf - as i enjoy both times of year.

The below is from what i have experienced over the past 4 years

May=
Weather=less rain, usually mid 80's daytime/70's nights
Crowds=(we go the first/second week each year) Seems to be more families with younger children during this time - more crowded on Mom's day weekend
Events = the Flower show is really nice, the grounds look beautiful and they have alot more ???(sorry i'm a blank what is it called when they trim bushes into animals/charactors???- wow do i feel silly)

October
weather - about the same tempwise as May but more chance of rain (we did experience a hurricane last year - but that was the first since we have visited during October off and on since 1989 - so i wouldn't worry too much about that).
Crowds = pick up on weekends and closer you get to Halloween for the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party = which if your kids are old enuf is alot of fun and they have a really neat parade (some of which may creep out anyone 7 and younger). But the kids get to dress in custom and they hand out lots of candy so it is alot of fun.
Events = MNSSHP (see the above) and Food & Wine Festival at EPCOT

Sorry if this wasn't very helpful but I gave up trying to choose between the two months and now go both in May and October.

Have a wonderful trip

Both are great times to go. May is not in huricane season.

Thank you! We are leaning toward October now... still a little leary of hurricanes but we just can't wait to go. I appreciate the info!

We went last October and in April. The crowds were lighter in October. We went the last week of October and had fine weather, we are going again this October. We didn't do MNSSHP last time but might do it this time now that the kids are a little older, 5,4, and 3. Last year we brought costumes but they didn't want to wear them, we will have to wait and see this year. F & W in Epcot is pretty fun also. It is fun no matter when you go! Good luck with your decision.

Last year we went in October and it is now our favorite time to visit.
The weather is usually great (not Too hot) and the Grandkids love the Halloween Party.
:cool1:

We can't comment on May as we've only been in October, but October does have some advantages - the crowds and lines for rides aren't too bad and as DeeDeeDis mentioned there is the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (and of course Hallowishes) and the Food & Wine Festival. The weather is good and if there is a rain it only lasts a short time (and can be very refreshing).

The only disadvantage I can think of is the chance of hurricanes, although WDW is far enough inland that a little rain wouldn't stop us from enjoying the parks in the rain!

F&W is awesome. It is great to be able to try a beer from so many different countries as you stroll around the world showcase. They even add some booths from aditional countries.

We already have our trip booked and somewhat paid for (at least thru Disney) for Oct. We'll be there Oct 9th thru the 13th, I'm glad we did decide for Oct. as I've heard alot of positive feedback about that time. I had no idea or even knew about the Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party and I'm so glad we're going to that, we even have our tickets. Better yet when my husband found out about the Food and Wine Festival it made the trip even better. Hope everyone that goes during that time can make to both events. I guess we need to start looking for a Halloween costumes.

Do you all think Sept. 17- 24 is a good time to go? Weather wise is most important to me! Thanks

may will be busy it will be the aniversary for starwars and they are doing starwars weekends. it was really hot this year.

:yay: I totally vote for October! We love both October and November, however we are taking a trip regretably in August this time (mom's 60th birthday and new job).

Does anyone have a comment about a possible trip May 20-27? What are crowds and weather like? Also our plane fares anywhere near reasonable? Thanks
